The Kimber Wolves
The Kimber Wolves is a social club/organisation of powerful nobles and wealthy members of Farran society. Formed in 202 AQ in response to the declaration of Levinian independence, this group seeks to support and benefit from the power of the Royal family of Farrah, the Kimbers. Through the Age of Growth the group increased its reach and steered the greatest profit to its members and beneficiaries.
The Kimber Wolves are spread across the nation, but often network with each other if a member is travelling near where another member lives. Their membership list is not published in public, with only high ranking Wolves knowing the full member list. Many noble families have individuals that count themselves members of the Wolves.
The organisation faced a great test in 496 AQ, when a number of its members were killed or targeted by assassins of the Golden Sons. The Wolves supported Lord York, himself a member, in his failed candidacy for Regent. They viewed General Occam, a native Levinian of no significant family line, as unscrupulous, untrustworthy, and unworthy of the Regency. The ascendant Occam out matched the Wolves in the Elector Council and was chosen as the Regent.
The Wolves faced decline in the face of Occam's political and financial power, which he wielded against their members in retribution for opposing him.
The Wolves aim to preserve the traditions and values of Farran society. This includes securing the safety of the intelligent races against the feral monsters of the world, protecting the country from any last vestige of the threat of dragons, reclaiming historical territories in Levinas, honouring the Royal family and the Dragonslayer as saviours and founders of the country. The Wolves have strongly opposed the liberation of gnomes due to the financial devastation it would cause them, and their belief that gnomes should be subservient.
The Kimber Wolves have been targets of Harper raids, and have put significant efforts into hunting down this rebel, anti-royal faction. The Wolves also oppose the Queen's Blade. They arguing such powerful individuals, while a useful tool to defend society, should not be in charge of important organisations. This concentration of political influence into an individual with such great personal power creates a risk of that individual becoming lawless, unaccountable, or gaining the power to turn against the Royal family.
