Singing Wood

The Singing Wood is a massive temperate forest that climbs up the side of a small mountain range. This forest is presided over and guarded by the archfey spirit Anzû. The entire area has a thin border with the Feywild, and it is said that those who get lost in the woods may find themselves transported there (though this is usually regarded as superstition).   It is easy for even experienced rangers to get lost in the Singing Wood, whether the forest itself changes as one is walking through it, or because fey spirits like to play tricks on travelers. The elves living in the forest have, over time, learned ways to avoid getting lost or to regain their way quickly once they have. The forest's disorienting nature has protected its inhabitants from would-be conquerors; enemy armies that enter the forest find themselves returning to camp again and again or perishing within as the seemingly endless forest gives way to no exit. Some say that those who die in the forest are reborn as spirits or beasts.

Flora & Fauna

The Singing Wood is home to many unique specimens of common species, some of whom are fey-touched, and some of whom are fey themselves. Small houses made of stone, ceramic or wood can be found hanging from trees and on the sides of paths throughout the forest, and are meant to provide shelter to birds and fey spirits. Tending to these houses are supposed to bring good luck, while allowing them to be forgotten or fall into disrepair is considered bad luck.   Flowers in the Singing Wood are very colorful. The forest is the native reach of the Faelia Flower, which is considered sacred to Anzû.   Pollination in the Singing Wood is performed by birds, bees, and the wind.
