Humans

Humans are known to everyone in Ferdlan. In some places, their name is spoken with a friendly tone, in others with hostility and in Nothsandan with inferiority. They are people of short life, but big ambitions. They can become experts in most of the art that are existent on Ferdlan. Either it is magic, inventing, both of the previous, swordsmanship, archery, knowledge or building. Humans are known for their motivation and dedication to work. They are told to do everything that will distinguish them out of society. They want to be remembered, become legendary and known. They want to achieve what others dreamt of and what they considered impossible. They are often compared to heated iron. They can be bent in any direction and become a tool of any purpose, but one will have to know what to make, before smashing the hammer onto the iron.

Social Structure

Humans are divided into a few different subcultures, which have created themselves out of differences in look and behaviour:
  • Kalumans - Kalumans are people from northern-western Settan, close to the cradle of all humanity. They are recognized by the very dark tone of their skin and colourful clothes, they are most usually sewn by themselves.
  • Koldians - Koldians are people from northern Settan, especially from Cold Mountains. They are easily recognized by their light, greyish skin and tall silhouettes. They are known to be very strong, thanks to the very harsh climate they grow up in.
  • Waruans - Waruans are people from southern Settan, especially from the rainforests of this place. They have specific brown skin mixed with a little tone of olive colour. They are known to be great rangers with perfect navigation in forests, as they grow up in the most dangerous of them.
  • Gaywans - Gaywans are people of grasslands coming from southern Howleran, where this biome is broadest. They are recognized by their tanned skin, due to the great exposure to the sun in grasslands, and the wide hats they usually wear on their heads.
  • Dealerns - Dealerns are people from northern-eastern Howleran, inhabitants of numerous cities in Divine Land. They are light-skinned folk that are used to living in cities, with some adventurous enough to explore forests of Divine Lands.
  • Remnals - Remnals are almost legendary human folk of Nothsandan. They are the last of their kind that survived the Slaughter of Nothsandan. They are recognized by their unique sandy skin tone and their habit of walking barefoot, thanks to their natural hard soles on their feet.
  • Facial characteristics

    Humans are known to have different colours of their eyes since they evolved in many various ways. The most common colours are blue, brown, green and grey, but there are also colours like violet, white, black, red, orange, yellow and metallic colours.

    Geographic Origin and Distribution

    Humans are species that are most widespread through Ferdlan, after halflings. They had their settlements in Nothsandan in the first millennium PG, but were slaughtered by the rising power of desertfolk of Soudan, which are intolerant to foreign species. Kingdom of Villia is considered their home country as the population there has the biggest percentage of humans in the whole Ferdlan and it has a human ruler.

    The Kingdom of Vilia - the biggest percentage of humans, human rulers, humans' first country. The Kingdom of Waruet - humans living alongside other inhabitants. The Kingdom of Tar - humans living alongside other inhabitants. The Kingdom of Rilan - humans living alongside other inhabitants. Laurelan Confederacy - humans as one of plenty of races living there. Divine Countries - humans living alongside other inhabitants. Amaya Republic - country dominated by humans.   Nothsandan Avengers - an organization created to group an army big enough to retake old human settlements. Humans of the World - an organization exchanging information and merchandise all around the world.

    Men - Heavy muscle mass, sharp look, facial hair. Women - Smooth skin, long hair, prominent feminities.

    Average Technological Level

    Humans are told to be the race that invented the first guns out of gunpowder, creation of rock gnomes, in 1507 PG. Due to that fact, they have started to develop their abilities in creating varieties of guns and became masters in the gun making on a level, no other race have achieved. They also are responsible for a lot of inventions that connect magic with technology, thanks to their natural creativity (sometimes stupidity). For example, they are responsible for the creation of Levitrain, Plainpod and Baloon.

    Major Language Groups and Dialects

    Humans are responsible for creating a common language, which was created with a thought to make it easy for every race to learn it, so it is often considered a mixup of most used other languages. Mostly this language is called Common, but its original name is Htanik.

    Common Dress Code

    The dress code varies a lot depending on the country human has grown up in, but it mostly consists of trousers and shirt unless they have higher social status, then they dress up more elegant and it varies even more often.

    Humans have a custom of taking off their shoes as they enter someone's home.

    History

    Humans are told to have their beginnings on the western coastline of the Kingdom of Vilia. This place is where humans began their civilization. They have been soon discovered by much better-developed civilizations of Elves of Waruet and Laurelan Dwarves. They helped humankind to grow in admiration of their work and quick way of living. Elves were in amazement of the power of common will of the people, when it comes to important matters and dwarves were astonished by the creativity of this new kind. First of helping species brought art and music to humanity and the second taught the art of stonework, which soon allowed the city of Brular to rise in its legendary beauty and become the monument of the power of humanity.   Then, it became to expand. Humans became curious about the world far away and wanted to explore what was on the Great Glacier's other side. That is when the first settlements on Howleran and Nothsandan were created. Soon everyone had a human friend unless they had some grieving disgust to them. Palaces started to rise and villages started to swarm the broad grasslands of Ferdlan. The Great Kingdom of Marwyn, a very successful country on Settan ruled by humans have risen to power and reached its golden age just a decade before it was destroyed by hundreds of orcish emigrant tribes coming down from the north in 858 PG. Later, in 1076 PG, all Nothsandanan human settlements were destroyed by desertfolk of Soudan, who started their expansion, after Endless Deserts became unbearable even for them.
    Lifespan
    Humans have about 85 years long lifespan, reaching maturity in age of 18, but there can be singular cases, when their lifespan goes beyond 100 years.
    Average Height
    Humans in their adulthood reach from 1.6 meters high to almost 2.1 meters. Very rarely anyone goes beyond that number.
    Average Weight
    Humans' weight can easily vary from 60 kg to over 120 kg.
    Average Physique
    Humans have a physique that varies depending on the amount of training they do during their lives.
    Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
    The skin tone of humans varies depending on the region they grew up in. Humans from Divine Countries will have olive skin, ones from Ouvuran Empire have very pale skin, due to the cold climate there and ones from the Kingdom of Vilia and surroundings have a very dark tone of their skin.
