The Divine System

Origin

The ten Gods created the divine system as a way to manage souls, handle prayers and distribute mana. It's a great spell overlayed on top of the entire world. It has been used since by the demigods, to whom responding to prayers themselves would be to hard.

Hacking

The Gods made the system, yet even their creation is not perfect. Mortals have tried to interfere with it many times, succeding on several ocasions. The first time was the attempt at immortality - The Unending Life. It fundamentaly changed the way the souls are managed. Later, one civilization created the metal hearts tricking the mana distribution into thinking the machine was alive. The method was lost to time. The last part to be hacked was actually the simplest one. Previously no one wanted to do it, as reciving prayer does not provide benefits. However beings known as false gods or patrons decided to use it in order to better communicate and support their subordinates.
