The Unending Life
Due to the success of research into immortality, the undead are created and begin to appear naturally in the world.
Successful creation of immortality disrupted the divine system handeling souls, which in turn leads to the appearence of the undead. Those that went through the procedure, are currently regarded as the long dead progenitors of vampires.
The Unending Life is considered directly responsible for the fall of the majority of the empires from before 40000 years ago. Besides that, the destabilization of the divine system created many Folds, including the biggest known Fold - Chur Noorox.
This is the only time the Gods tried to intervene in what is now called a Mistake, as they quickly realized, that the power they bring only makes things worse.
