The Kingdom of Alakna

Also known as the Dragon Empire, many thousands of years ago Alakna was one of the most formiddable political forces on the planet. At the height of its power, the Kingdoms various territories extended across the entire western portion of Kajiantu, extending across Fallewen to the polar wastes, and encompassing the entirety of the Chozashi Desert and the Whitetip Mountains, and its borders extended east over the Whitetip Mountains to the Bay of /BayName/.

Alakna was, rather famously, ruled by dragons. The Dragon King or Dragon Queen, as its leader was called, was the final authority on any and every matter in the kingdom, from the legal to the financial to the spiritual. The Dragon Monarchs were sometimes worshipped as deities by their subjects, especially when the empire was at the height of its power. Most Dragon Monarchs were also powerful mages, capable of amazing feats of magic.

Although Alakna was disbanded nearly three millennia ago, the influence of the Dragon Monarchs can still be felt throughout Kajiantu, especially in the Hall of Brass and Ruby, which was close to the center of the empire's seat of power. Architecture from the Pre-Arcane Era is preserved in many parts of the Hall of Brass and Ruby, and old artifacts and ruins may be found throughout the empire's former territories.

Disbandment

Alakna was dissolved during the Great Arcane Cataclysm. Dragons are inherently magical creatures, and as access to chaos magic was cut off by the sudden appearance of the Obsidian Wall, the Dragon Monarchs lost the ability to remain as dragons.
The ruling monarch at the time, Dragon Queen Raxisa, is said to have been personally involved in the creation of the Dragonstones, along with several of her children. It is believed that Raxisa took on a permanent Dragonborn form, and may have ruled over the remnants of the empire for some time; however, without the advantages of the vast magical communication network upon which it relied, the empire quickly fell apart into separate, self-governed territoies.
