The Council
The Council is the governing force of Ferox, they are in charge of nearly all major political matters, and dictate the overall movements of the F.N.G. It is composed entirely of Trial Survivors, which means that the total number of members fluctuates based on the results of the most recent Trial.
Structure
The Council functions under the leadership of the Sovereign. Though there are no other distinct positions between other members of the Council, due to the nature of their selection, certain degrees of pedigree are held amongst their members. Typically, those who are deemed to have been the most essential during their Trial are given more authority and responsibilities than others.
Culture
In most cases, Survivors do not actually covet holding a position on The Council. Survivors in the modern era tend to be less concerned with things like politics. They reached such a position as a result of their strength and are usually more concerned in the tangible benefits that a position of power brings, not necessarily what it can produce. As a result, very few active members of the Council tend to be actual Survivors.
Upon their induction into the Council, most will simply appoint an advisor/intermediary to handle all of their actual duties.
Public Agenda
While the system of replacing existing members of the Council with new Survivors at the end of each Trial was meant to ensure new leadership and fresh perspectives, the advisory loophole has resulted in a stagnation of leadership and political structure. Most of the "Intermediary" Council members have actually been a part of the Council for several generations of Survivors. When a new Trial is approaching, those who have affluent ancestry have a history of scouting those they deem capable of becoming Survivors.
They will provide such individuals with funding and information on the condition that they will be allowed to sit on the council in lieu of the actual Survivor. It is for this reason that the power structures and dynamics between families, companies, and races have maintained relatively steady since the founding of the Trial of the Eclipse.
Despite this, however, there are various individuals who do strive to join the Council in order to create genuine change, one of which happens to be the current Sovereign. Unfortunately, these individuals tend to be in the minority.
