Pankalas River

Starting in the Tamak Mountains, the Pankalas runs north before dumping into the Bay of Cuyarra south of the Forest of Stars. The river is fed by snowmelt in the mountains, and runs down the slopes in a creak that gradually widens as it makes its way down. Once it reaches the flat ground, it broadens out and winds through the pine forests. The banks are wide, the current is smooth, and the water is a clear blue.

The river was often used as a trade route by the Valaran Empire. It was considered the highway to the eastern frontier of the empire along the Dàn Coast, as it leads right up to the peninsula connecting Cuyania and Kaabara. Flat-bottomed boats laden with cargo sailed up and down its length; villagers along the banks could tell the day of the month by which ships were passing by. These days, the river is less-often used. The vessels most often seen are simple fishing boats from locals never going too far from home.
