The Spire

At the centre of the Land of Spirits, precisely over the north pole, a spire of rock reaches to the heavens. Smaller mountains surround it, but the Spire easily surpasses them all. Its narrow, jagged peak pierces the clouds. Legend has it that the Spirits pulled an ordinary peak up and up, closer to Spiritrest so they could use it as a staircase to reach the world.

Geography

The Spire is located in the centre of the most northern continent, far from the coast. It towers about 2,000 feet higher than the other peaks in its range. Where its base meets the other mountains, it turns into a jagged icefall and then long arms of glacier filling the valleys. The Spire is perpetually covered in snow and ice, littered with seracs, and beset by frequent avalanches. Climbing it has never been successfully accomplished, but it's so remote that there have been very few attempts in history.
