Kingdom of Doven

Culture

Upper Classes

There is a strong sense of etiquette and civility among the Dover nobility. For an outsider, all of their meticulous ways of behaving around royals and figureheads can seem ridiculous. Sit like this, do not fold your arms, never slouch, and more, all stem from an old obsession with keeping a neat and proper civilization. The difference between a feral and wild cannibal people and cleanly noble society all comes from how people treat the other.

Middle Classes

The Dover middle class is a happy lot, if not equaling the lower classes as well. They are considered the easiest to get along with. Many grievances that these citizens have purely stem from stress at work or inconveniences with their relationships at most. Oftentimes, they pursue their own activities and interests.

Lower Classes

It can be hard to differentiate between the lower and middle classes at times, for quality of life is superb for many people. Regardless, these citizens are the most relaxed, if not blunt at times, individuals to be with. They have no innate etiquette expectations or ways to act. Hard work alongside them is the easiest way to earn their respect.

History

Feudal Era

Doven's founding was around the late Feudal Era. During this time, many were vying for who would restore the glory of the Nastirn Era. Years and years of cruel tyrants ruled over the few Doven regions believing they would be the ones to restore Nastirn glory. Perhaps the most well known tyrant was Agitor, the warlord from Radian. He was the one who brought conquest to Cordero and ravaged their livelihoods.

When Agitor returned from his campaigns, the people revolted against their selfish and despotic ruler. The Kingdom of Doven would be founded as Cadraig, hero of the revolution, would be crowned as king.

The Corderans did not forget who were the ones who came to their lands and burned houses and farms down. They demanded reparations for what was done to them. The Dovers, however, believed they owed nothing as new and structured leadership took over. The great rivalry was born.

Enlightenment Era

During this period, many Dovers feared the possibility of another tyrant coming to power. Many of the lower and middle classes sought limiting the scope of the monarch's power to magistrates.

The Dovers learned that Corderan bitterness knew no limits. War broke out and the weak leadership of the magistrates meant Corderans managed to reach the Dover capital building and torch it down before finally being repelled. The Dovers naturally rebuilt themselves before finally retaliating.

Industrial Era

The Kingdom of Dover enters this new industrial age with a victory over Cordero. Life is happy and prosperous for many as massive production of basic essentials allows for people to thrive better than ever. However, for many Dovers, this puts them in a naive notion that nothing could go wrong. They have a stable society, economy, and life as a whole. What could possibly shake it all up? The old rival Cordero.

The sun may have set but dawn will come again.
