ToD: Session 72: Forged in Fire and Shadow

General Summary

After leaving the hideout of the rebellion of Ahlors the party went to Platanos to meet the master smith. They arrived after traveleling for 1.5 days and saw that the central two towers were merged into one tower and was corrupted by demonic powers. They then decided to to sneak around town in search of the forge, eventually they realised the forge was located inside the giant thermal vent. They saw three entrances to the forge and decided to go back to the other side of the thermal vent forge and go inside the right door. Here they fought multiple Skulvyn and Sahuagin, and made their way trough the forge. Eventually they found the master smith, he was an old Shalarin man named Re'va'rieth. When asked if he could craft a powerfull weapon he told the party that he did it before with the weapon of Asterion Psári and that he could do it again with a meteorite found in the Mountains of Volar.
The party decided to immediatly travel to the mountains and where on their way, they arrived after 2 and a half days and searched for a crater in the mountains or a cave. They eventually stumbled upon a abandoned town with a cave on the other side. As they approached they heard thunder and saw lightning around this town and when they got closer to the cave three Storm Giants appeared in front of the party. They asked why they were here and the party told them that they wanted to free the city of Ahlors and reqruit an army for the fight against Tiamat. They warned the party that they had an intruder not long ago that killed multiple of their kin and that they imprisoned it in the cave. The highest ranking member of the group and started meditating in the cave entrance and came back and told them that they were allowed inside. As the party went inside they were dragged in by a vortex and arrived in a abandoned city which after looking around was one the enclave's from the Netherese Empire. They saw a bright light in the centre of the city and decided to go there. Here they saw a shining meteorite and were ambushed by the Storm Herald and some Kuo-Toa. During the battle it send a psionic wave which stunned most of the party but after a brilliant play by Leo Kennedy they banished it to fight of the Kuo-Toa. They managed to kill the creatures and then summoned the Storm Herald back to fight it again. When it reapeared they quickly dispacthed of it and when they did they saw that the meteorite was protected by some kind of forcefield. When they touched it a combination of a Dragonborn and Tortle came up to them and asked again what they wanted to do with the metal. They answered that they wanted to protect the city he allowed them to take it if they gave him treasure's equeal to the price of the meteorite chunk. Which is around 35.000 gp. When asked about his name he told them it is Thunderhide. And when they needed him he and his Storm Giants would be there to help. The party rested and Thunderhide gave them the posibility to teleport to Platanos.

The battle of the Forge

The party arrived near the forge and began to make their way over to Re'va'rieth, when they entered the central body they saw three Sahuagin whipping him to work harder. The party quickly dispathed of the Sahuagin and gave the Star Metal to him. Re'va'rieth gave Leo and Sidon Psári their Pearl Armor, and Ray her Silverweave armor. They started to equip them and he told them the steps to complete the weapon.

1. Heat up the crystals
2. Melt the metal
3. If the heat gets to high lower the heat
4. Pour the metal in the cast
5. Forge the trident
6. Enchant the item
7. Cool the Item

The party cleared out the Control Room and they decided that Ray, Sun and Leo would protect the control room with a Blade Barrier, and Sidon would protect Re'va'rieth while he is smithing. They started by turning on the forge and immediatly Skulvyn and Sahuagin came and attacked the party, with the help of the blade barrier many of them died on impact and more died by spells and Sidon his attacks. During the fight Ray transformed in the abyssal squid form and started attacking the party and opponents and a Wild Magic surge happened and summoned a Modron specifically a Decaton. It fought Octoray and held it of long enough for the party to defeat many enemies and get the trident that they were forging called Starfall. This sadly cost the life of Re'va'rieth who put all his remaining strength and essence into the trident. But just before the trident was finished the party saw a purple snake type creature swimming to the front called a Wastrilith. With Sidon back and powered up he defeated it with the radiant damage from his smite and destroyed it.
Afterwards the party decided to blow up the Thermal Vent and city with the emergency shutdown of the forge which build up too much pressure exploded with the party at a safe distance.

Rewards Granted

The party was rewarded +1 Silverweave Armor and +1 Pearl Armor. Sidon was rewarded the Starfall Trident. All of these were made by Re'va'rieth in the forge of Platanos.
