Session 004: Afternoon at Granny's

General Summary

The crew, newly and tentatively christened "North Wind" gathers themselves together and leave the lair of the Raywalkers, Duan cheerfully thanking them for their assistance. Outside, Manya Inna thanks them and tells them if they ever need help, she’ll do what she can before she walks off into the night. They adjourn to a touristy cafe on the other side of the Hooked Tower and discuss next steps with Talasea and his friend Swallow.
The night passes quietly (other than Jack’s disquieting dream of course). At breakfast, more discussion is had and the Grit and the Grind (the trio from Narwhada) show up. They decide to explore the city a bit and learn from Oswyn that they need to officially sign Tal (and Swallow) up for the Trial in some way. Oswyn also mentions that the Ringed Roses are an unpleasant bunch and that one of them is the heir to the Thonemany Family. The ever grumpy Malo bites out that they’ve already helped the crew plenty, then asserts that he himself doesn’t need any help when he gets called out on it.
The crew sets out to explore the city a bit, stumbling upon the Market of Salt and doing some wandering. Zenith makes the acquaintance of Cecily, an old Springish halfling woman that is furiously knitting, and trades spells with her. He later starts a dance party at Talasea’s performance. Jack and Mohr wander off and find a job board, immediately seizing upon the advertisement for “Visit My Grandma.”
The crew goes to find a small house and meet Granny Nabor, an elderly dragonborn woman who greets them as her grandkids. They keep her company for the afternoon, telling stories, enjoying her stew, tidying her home. Aphid discovers a ferret in a pile, which promptly has its eyes roll back in its head and begins speaking and asking Aphid to be kind to Granny. The ferret checks on everyone else before its eyes return to normal and it settles down. Zenith discovers that Granny Nabor has an interesting book collection, among them a book on Planar Physics and a Guide to Reality, learning that there are six planes in addition to the plane of our reality: one for each of the elements, one for positive energy, and one for negative energy. The elemental planes are seldom hospitable for humanoids not suited to such drastic environments.
Granny gives out a gold piece each and bids them a fond farewell, her mind once again wandering as they depart.
The group spends the rest of the afternoon resting at the inn and playing games of dragonchess.
