LV-187: CHARA IV

LV–187, also known as Chara IV, was a mineral and oil–rich planet located in the Beta Canum Venaticorum System, which in turn was located in the Weyland Isles Sector. It was under Independent Core System Colonies control, and was the site of a TotalEnergies drilling facility and colony of the same name.

History

A member world of the Independent Core System Colonies, LV–187 was the site of LV-187 Colony, a French oil–drilling outpost owned by TotalEnergies.

Description

LV–187 was a rocky and windswept planet located in the Beta Canum Venaticorum System of the Frontier's Weyland Isles Sector.

Climate and terrain

Having been terraformed prior to 2186, LV–187's atmosphere was breathable, with temperatures averaging 12°C. The planet was wracked by frequent thunderstorms and strong gales, which brought with them the dual problems of flooding and wind damage. As a result, LV–187's surface, which consisted of barren rock formations and lowlands, was perennially plastered in mud. Despite its parent star Beta Canum Venaticorum being a main sequence star, persistent and heavy cloud cover on LV–187 kept the world in a state of dusk.

Flora and fauna

LV–187 hosted a considerable rat population.

Economy

LV–187's sole export was crude oil.

Population

Two hundred members of personnel resided at LV–187 Colony.
