Church of the Triad

Throughout Faerun, The Church of the Triad is a powerful and well respected religious organization. The Triad consists of three individual gods, Ilmater, Torm, and Tyr. While each has his own temples and followers, this is a group composed of worshippers of all three. Clerics of each deity are seen as equals and share in the responsibilities of the temples. It is trinitarian in belief; that is, they feel that Tyr, Ilmater, and Torm are equal deities in the Triad and that no one god is dominant.
The church is a religious order that practices not only charity and provides hospital care but military defense of the poor and vulnerable. They operate soup kitchens, hospices to provide healing services (both magical and mundane) but also raise armies or send paladins to fight tyrants and evil throughout the continent.
Over time, the Church of the Triad has grown in strength and numbers, acquiring a number of fortresses and castles of strategic importance as temples. Together these formidable structures comprise a crucial defense against organizations like The Zhentarim or the Red Wizards of Thay. The helped in keeping the Shadovar from overrunning Faerun. Anywhere there is suffering, you will find a devotee of the Triad. Either providing for the sick and the poor, or protecting them. Usually both.
