Pest Clove

Pest Clove is a hemiparasitic plant that seeds into the bark of adult trees with tall branches, the plant grows sweet smelling berries and white flowers which attract birds who eat the fruit and have the seeds stuck to them to be scattered from a great height. The seed which is covered in rubbery, sticky barbs is able to hook into trees and burrow deep into their wood. The plant then grows in feathered, weath-like bundles before blooming small white flowers and more berries beggining the cycle again.    Pest close was names for it's invastive nature, widely considered a pest it can stunt the growth of healthy trees and even impeed fruit production. Too many sprigs of pest clove can cause the tree to die altogether. Pest clove was orginially thought to attract night pests, but humans have since learned that the pest clove grows too high up for Night Pests to take shelter in.   The berries of the Clove pest are said to have an acidic, tart flavour which is consumable to orcs and humans, but it grows in too small an amount and too sporadically to make up any staple food. Too much berry consumption has been linked to nausea and rashes. The trade comes not from the berries but the seeds of the flower. In order to not be eaten the seeds have developed a strong bitter, acidic taste and a foul smell. In small amounts the seed is relatively harmless but when toasted and pounded into a poweder it becomes a powerful neurotoxin known as Ache.
