Verbane
Verbane refers to a hardy species of flowers with silky frilled petals, arranged circularly around a cluster of long, white stamens. Part of the thistle family, verbane comes in many bright colors like vermilion, yellow and magenta, but by far the most common color is crimson. The plant is said to have a rich spicy aroma when it initially blooms.
Verbane grows in clusters among tall grass at higher altitudes, it common to find them on the silde of hills and along mountain pathways, their reinforced stem and large bulb make them able to withstand harsh climate conditions like wind and frost, the stems are hollow and the plant requires little water to grow, they are mostly found within the Tundra region, Verbane begins growing in the early season and blooms longer than any other plant. Verbeane is highly flamable but burns quickly and dryly during the peak of Vant- the cold and dry season after this takes place the burnt soil provided nutrients for wet-loving plants that spring up during Aer- the wet and warm season
Verbane is commonly a home for Night Pests, parasitic tick-like creatures that use the flowers as a place to hide to latch onto unsuspecting mammels, The night perst contibutre to the plant by eating smaller invasive insects and warding off herbivore mammels that would eat the head of the flower.
Contraband
Verbane is banned from behing chopped down in large quantities, as the plants act as a home from Night Pests to prevent them from migrating closer to towns and farms. Its also prevented in case any night pests hang onto the stalks and are brought into town with traders. small bouquets may be brought into towns provied that the flower is intact and the stalk may be cut no longer than thirty centimetres.Uses
Verbane is a pretty impressive gift as collecting them means that someone has likely gone out of their way to venture into the tundra to receive them. Even more impressive are yellow verbane flowers as they are the least common. crimson vervane apparenly makes a rich powdered rouge favoured by well-off ladies. It can also be turned into a spicy-scented perfume.Flower Language
Although receiving Verbane is an impressive gift regardless. Some noble circles will only accept gifts of specific colours. Yellow, magenta and vermillion are all safe colours, that mean the person is worthy 'effort and admiration' with the meaning two-fold for the rare yellow flowers. However crimson, the most common flower colour is only acceptable to gife as a rougue as the red colour is too-easily associated with blood, specifically the blood-sucking creatures that live on the stems. Gifting crimson verbane is a shorthand way of either calling someone a 'backstabbing pest' or to infer that they 'keep parasites in their company', this message can be illustrated with the addition of Jester Weed as it's a bitter plant that grows invasively, together they imply that 'Betrayal is imminent.'Remove these ads.
