Tabaxi
Given the very deserved reputation of the Voracious Hills, one might be surprised to find not that not one, but two sentient races have made it their home. The shifters survive by living on the margins and outskirts where the threats are manageable, and the other race, the tabaxi, have literally risen above it.
The ancestors of modern tabaxi learned to survive by taking to the trees, which works in the cloud forest that covers the hills because almost all of the most dangerous creatures live on the ground, opening up a sort of ecological niche that the tabaxi have exploited to the fullest. They live in huge treetop communities, harvesting fruit and hunting prey in the extensive canopy. When they made contact with the rest of the Beastlands races, the naturally curious tabaxi jumped at the chance to widen their horizons and signed onto the Accord of the Waters.
Individual tabaxi are extremely diverse in appearance and temperament, although almost all of them share the energy and curiousity that has become a hallmark of the race.
