Steve The Familiar
History
At the age of ten, when Helena Peabody survived the accident that took the life of her parents, she was placed under the watch of several therapists at a mental hospital. As they tried to get her to understand these events, she simply pushed them further down and created walls upon walls in her mind to externalise them. The child having already shown a natural aptitude for magic, and her fragile mind being under a lot of pressure from strange people she didn't know, Steve simply spawned one day.
After that, Helena became calmer, and retreated further into her imagination and books. Steve seemed to work very hard to shield her from the truth of her situation, and together the two orchestrated their escape from the mental hospital. They have been inseperable since.
Significance
Steve is repressed trauma given form. His fragile, extremely anxious mind is simply the loop of traumatic events in Helena's life playing over and over again.
