Sundaru Desert

The Sundaru Desert is a vast desert that covers the entire nothern part of Niith. Only divided by the Fangs of Aurich in the South and Tropical forests to the far north. It is a war-ravaged desert that is also home to the Klithzi Kobold race.
"The Sundaru Desert is a sad place. The Alliance of Man has ravaged this land, and murdered thousands of the native kobolds, a people who were just emerging from thier feral dens. They targetted these Kobolds, why? Just becasue they were seen as vermin that Man wanted to eradicate?" ~Isumi Nagai, Nozumi Historian

Geography

The Sundaru Desert sits at sea level to most of the oceans around it. It varies from sand to rocky and hot landscapes, The further north you go, and specifically to the north west, it becomes wasteland, due to Nuclear proliferation by New Allica.   The Sunspear River runs along the entire desert ending within the Fangs of Aurich at a majestic waterfall. There is little foilage in the desert and rarly any oasis, near the coasts there is only light foilage, Most of the less hearty civilizations and people cling to the coasts of the desert or the river to survive.   Wreckage of war machines lies scattered around the desert, over the years these piles were gathered and condensed by Klithzi Survivors. Tent Cities are often set up near these for travelrs to rest and perhaps purchase old tech parts or weapons that may still work.

History

The Alliance of Man waged a war across the desert with the target of eradicating the Kobold population. They were hard-set on eradicating the speices. They Ultimatly failed at that, but left hundreds of thousands of Kobolds dead, crippled, or disfigured. The War of the Sundaru desert was halted from a major sucess by Kobold gurilla tactics and Underground systems.

Chemical Weapons

In order to fight the gurilla tactics of the Kobolds, the Alliance deployed chemical weapons aimed to choke out kobold trenches and underground tunnels. These were used with massive sucess, usually killing most of the kobolds who used these to move about. However there were survivors that were left with permenant injuries due to it as well.
"The Kobolds often must have breathing devices...the gas used in those deep nest communities was sick. Many of them died in painful ways, but those who survived, will forever require breathing assistance... How could people be so cruel... ~David Correl, Meridian Continental Army

Nuclear Weapons

There was two recorded uses of a nuclear bomb in the Sundaru Desert planted by Alexsandrian fighters. They were aimed to clear out Kobold Warrens that were established. These were pretty much Kobold cities that were eradicated by the most ugly means nesesary. The Warrens of Kommaru, and Bilolitisu were wiped from the face of the desert, and craters were left in thier wake. Modern Kobolds and travelers pay homage to these places by placing candles or Wreaths by each of their respective memorials.

End of the War

When the war ended, the kobolds were still a fraid to develop further than they did. They were distrustful of outsiders and travelrs often find themselves under fire by Klithzi Technicals. Only a few settlements have opened up once more, and an ongoing campaigjn by the Clans to pacify those who were still fighting outsiders is underway.

The Sundaru Effigy

There lies a natural trench within the desert that is known as the Scar of the Lost. This place has become a memorial to the Kobolds and those who fought for them. Atop the chasm, lies a statue of a Lone Kobold standing proudly on a rock. This is the Sundaru Effigy, Named after the Desert proper, which was named after Sundaru the Savior. This statue represents every kobold that was killed by the Alliance. Standing in Defiance.   Sundaru the Savoir was a Kobold hero that led An exodus of Kobolds into Southern Niith after the Alliance had hunted them. A small population of Klithzi live within the southern half of Niith due to him. Sundaru was killed by Execution by Alliance Hunters, who wished to make a point after he was captured returning to an occupied Sundaru Desert. His body was never found, possibly taken as a trophy by the Aliance of Man. However this is unconfirmed.

The Orith Oasis Realm of Vestull

In the North eastern part of the Sudnaru desert, Lies an ancient fortress known as The Wall, which protects the Vestull Oasis people. These were Humans who fled The Alliance, or Alexsandrian Refugees who were totally against the war in the first place. They had a small war near the later days of the Alliance of Man, which they replled attacks off The Wall. It later became a Merchantile Nation that filled with Refugees and people who were once members of New Allica, The City of Industry, Alexsandria and Sundaru Displaced. To this day they remain heavily isolationist, However relations look promising.
