The Merchant Authority of Garsahl (Gars-all)

Within Gaia, there are a special set of nations that are lead by "Great Houses". Mostly these countries eventually bow to the will of all people. However there are a few that are still recognized by the world as ancient-great houses. The Merchant Authority of Garsahl is one such nation that won its independence from Massiez'Laire. This country is led by a great house, which makes it very difficult to cooperate with.

Structure

The House or Garsahl is run by an extremely rich and influential merchant family known as Garsahlis. They have gained so much power that they bought their independence from Massiez'Laire through questionable channels. House Garsahl also runs the Windrunner Trading Company, which is the Far Shore's Company's biggest rival.   The House is led by a lord, which oversees the entire affairs of the country, given advice by a chamber of deputies, that represent the population of people whom live under the rule of the Lord Garsahl. Money is the biggest motivation of things in this nation, so most personal freedoms aren't there unless one can 'buy' them.

History

The Windrunner Trade Company was founded and operated out of Massiez'Laire before the country started to tax megacorporations in favor of equal and fair trade, to better support it's people. House Garsahlis did not approve of this, and with it's strategic placement of senators within the parliament of Massiez'Laire had a large island in The Tropics succeed from the state, which he moved to and renamed it Garsahl. There was a brief skirmish after the deed was done, which ended in silence, due to the private military that Windrunner had. Masiez'Laire does what it can to limit Windrunner's power in their nation, which has since been secluded to the island in AL-Isiq.  

Conflict with Luxxon

  Luxxon naturally had an affinity to try and harass Garsahl of its assets, Only to be met by ruthless counter attack and skirmishes by the Paramilitary of Garsahl. The Lux and Garsahl still feud to this day, however they can not compete with how modern and loyal the Merchant Authority's military is. Luxxon had abandoned its hopes to conquer the island under the pirate lords in order to save its people and money. So it limits to harassing its trade lines. The only issue is with this, Windrunner as the name implies, is mostly airship trading fleets, and thus Luxxon can do little to nothing to pirate the ships. Luxxon has far too litle airships to attempt to compete with them, but maybe one day they will, and this is a real fear by Garsahl, as they have since outfitted these ships with a light arsenal of weapons to ward off sky pirates.
