The Merchantile Republic of Bellings (Bell-lings)
Bellings is a World-Power and amongst the richest nations of Gaia. Located in East-central Gateway between Massiez'Laire and the Benetian Confederation. It is a nation and the only one of it's kind led by a corporation.
The corporation in question is known as the Far Shores Company. Which has become a consortium of several enterprises. They super-ceded the existing King by buying the last royal family out in 1345 AS.
The Far Shores Company
The Far shores Company is a monopoly of trade goods amongst the sea. It has become a consortium and has taken over the role of a government state within Bellings. They are known to exploit people and lands for profit. They have a presence in mostly every other major city that is on the Face of Gaia. they also maintain two private armies that rival smaller nations. Their biggest strength is their wealth and manipulation. Money can buy lots of things, even power. However, they do not actively and public exploit these areas, but in secret, to keep their facade of a honest company true. This has created an Anarcho-Capitalism within the nation, in which laws and safety are overseen by the Internal Assets Protection Company, one of the country's two paramilitaries.The Remnant Monarchy
There does exist a few rebels against the company to partisans loyal to the last Queen of Bellings. They wish to restore authority to a rightful government and not to a corporation. The Far Shores company entertains them by establishing their queen as a symbol, without any political power, more of a public speaker who is overseen by a shadow council made from the Board of Directors. This firmly keeps the rebels within their grasp. With the majority moving to the Free Cities of the Benetian Confederation, with dreams to hopefully return a rightful heir to power in Bellings.Population
The nation is comprised mostly of Humans and half-elves with a small elven population. Some beastfolk here serve as domestic Servitude slaves to the upper-highclasses of the Board. This is of course denied and hidden from public, as the beastfolk are not forced to live in poverty conditions, but to live with their masters in their fancy homes and condominiums in exchange for domestic servitude. This is often seen as a last resort to beastfok seeking a home where they can find food, and shelter.Exploitation of the Telosian and Pakau Islands
It is no secret that Bellings abuses their influence within the Telosian and Pakau Islands. Often driving the primitive races into servitude or unconscious Indentured Servitude. They operate factories and businesses on the islands they control, abusing the populations workforce with promises of care and protection from enemies. This has of course drawn several complaints from Massiez'Laire and even Telos it self.
