GB Chapter 40: The End Games
General Summary
Pre-Sesh
Admin
- More spell updates in the Gaioforce spell sheets. Feel free to switch out any Gaioforce spells you have on your sheets for other ones at any point; since its a beta test, I'm not a stickler on preparing/knowing these spells strictly based on how your classes work
- Stealing/pickpocketing party members: See PvP Mechanics for how this would work before deciding to do it. Not sure if it is in the document or not, but here's one update I'll make: getting caught stealing from a party member consitutes as consent for violent PvP if the party member chooses to retaliate.
- Sex rolls: simplified to one Performance check instead of three rolls. In addition, I as the DM will only RP the build up to a sexual encounter, not the sex acts themselves.
- Retcon: having been at the head of a global humanoid trafficking operation, Wizard Santa became quite wealthy. It appears that the enterprise has not been as profitable in recent years, whether due to the annual soul payments to the Shadow King (cuts into Wizard Santa's slave supply) or Wizard Santa's deliberate spending/investment in materials for dark energy weapons & personal projects. Regardless, in the week that you were at his castle, you probably would've found his magically sealed vault, and with multiple spellcasters in the party, you probably would've managed to unlock it. 40,000 gp has been added to the group funds, leaving you with a total of 63,000 gp in the group fund.
- As a reminder, you are welcome to use group funds for group purchases, or distribute it evenly amongst yourselves. Group funds CANNOT be used for individual purchases or to settle individual debts unless the entire group consents to the transaction. For the purposes of keeping the game fair, group funds also cannot be "secretly pilfered" from your various Bags of Holding when the other party members aren't looking. Combat: Rexyca vs. Lamarvagon
Initiative
- Raelica 141/250 HP
- Lamarvagon 35/250 HP
Round 1
- Raelica: Opens up with Shadowfire Orb for 32 necrotic/33 fire (49 total cuz necrotic resistance). Raelica flies 50 ft up into the air.
- Lamarvagon: Flies up 80 ft, then fires Artcic Venom Breath for 16 cold damage. Then Dark Warp (2nd level) to move 60 ft up.
Round 2
- Raelica: Flies 10 ft up, then casts Dark Lightning (4th level). Lamarvagon counters with Space Fake (4th level) and dissipates it entirely around him. Flies up 40 ft.
- Lamarvagon: Nosedives at Rexyca and casts Gravity Hammer (5th level) for 39 force damage; Raelica counters with Kinetic Counter (3rd level) and fires it back at Lamarvagon. Lamarvagon counters with his own Kinetic Counter (3rd level) and reduces it to 37 force damage.
Round 3
- Raelica: Multiattacks with a bite & tail (misses the tail 38 piercing & 12 necrotic (44 total). Then casts Misty Step (2nd step) to get 30 ft back, then flies down 50 ft (50 ft elevation)

- Lamarvagon: Multiattacks; one claw hits for 13 slashing/1 cold due to resistance (14 total).
Round 7
- Raelica: Teleports to the Beacon on the ground and does nothing.
- Lamarvagon: In the ultimate fit of cowardace, Lamarvagon channels his strongest spell energy (3rd level) and slams through the Daidrin barrier surrounding the arena (I shit you not, we homebrewed and I set the DC at 25, and this man rolled a 25 total). The shadowy clouds surrounding the Darksun grow angry with contempt.
Round 8
- Raelica: Roars in intimidation to Lamarvagon, taunting him to come down and finish the fight.
- Lamarvagon: Submits to his cowardace and flees the arena, much to the shock of the audience, the MC, and the Gaiobros. Having seen their "fearless" military leader abandon his post by fleeing in disgrace emboldens all to join the "Fuck Darkjaw" chant started by the Gaiobros.
The King's Judgement
- In the aftermath of an upsetting conclusion, almost the entire audience rushes the bookie to collect their winnings. Those that bet on Lamarvagon try to get their money back (since he didn't technically get reduced to 0 HP), while those that bet on Raelica try to get their winnings, believing that she defeated him fair & square. MB convinces the overwhelmed bookie to side with the Raelica winnings, and after a look of defeat from the MC, the bookie gives MB their 3000 Daidcoin (bet 1000, we'll say the payout is 3-1). Presumably, this kicks off the decision that Raelica defeated Lamarvagon, and as such gives out prize money to Raelica betters.
- The other Gaiobros presumably collect their winnings for Raelica's victory, as they technically entered the T-Rex into the fight themselves (how much do they win? I must find out). Draconius & Balcazar, however, lost the money they bet against Rexy (50 gp for both), but each win 1500 & 1260 Daidcoin (respectively) to offset their losses.
- All commotion ceases when the Shadow Storm engulfs the entire sky. A powerful bolt of Dark Lightning shatters the remaining arcane barrier surrounding the arena, landing 20 ft in front of Raelica. The shadowy residue slowly forms into a projection of the Shadow King himself, earning immediate reverence and kneeling from the audience
- The Shadow King shows disdain and annoyance for Darkjaw's cowardace and defection, but is not overly surprised given his previous failures. As a reward for her victory, the Shadow King snaps his fingers to complete Gaelica's possession of Rexy. Rexy convulses and looks Obu in the eye one final time before all of Thalonius' demonic upgrades are drained to his center. He then pukes up a shadowy mass of necrotic flesh in front of him, falling unconscious in the form the Gaiobros first met him in.
- The shadowy mass of flesh slowly forms around Aetherbane, eventually creating a humanoid being that grips the sword at its handle. When the shadows clear, Lady Gaelica, newly reformed, rises once again, immediately kneeling before her master in both gratitude and subservience. The Shadow King congratulates her on her victory and acknowledges that he has proven herself worthy after her failures. Rather than order her to deal with the Gaiobros, the Shadow King sends her back to the Jaw Patrol Training Facility (will most likely be renamed now) to begin preparations for "the plans they discussed". She teleports away to do so, with great dismay from Master Obu.
- The Shadow King addresses the Gaiobros directly, who are the only ones that did not bow in reverence to his holy darkness. He taunts Obu while plotting to take his T-Rex away; Obu clenches his teeth & fists in anger. Obu tries to convince the Shadow King to let him keep Rexy as a reward for dealing with Darkjaw (though Gaelica is truly the one responsible for thaT), but the Shadow King is unfortunately unfazed. He promises to allow Obu to visit Rexy in his abode after he "works" on him. The Shadow King tells Obu that he would love for the Gaiobros to visit him in his home, and that they just need to complete the Initiate Program to begin that journey.
- The Shadow King then speaks to MB, offering to "unlock his full Gaioforce potential". MB asks for a harem of undead people in return, which the Shadow King, confused and fazed for the first time since they've met him, grants to the changeling. The Shadow King reaches into MB's soul and strums his Gaioforce string of fate to the Blauri Aura, giving MB magical control over dark matter. The Shadow King then addrsses Fork and shows disdain for his Gaioforce Aura, but reluctantly states how he still needs it for his plans. Fork, in typical fashion, brushes him off and does not bind himself to any quid pro quos, leaving the Shadow King to dissipate with a snap of his fingers. Rexy vanishes too, leaving Master Obu angrier than ever while the Gaiobros, the MC & the audience take a moment to process WTF just happened.
MB's Awakening
Thanks to their deal with the Shadow King, MB now has full access to the Blauri Aura of the Gaioforce, and can prepare any new spells accordingly. To simpify their choices, they can also elect to swap out 1-4 of the following Blauri spells to test things out, or they can choose not to swap out any spells at all:- Hydro Rush: 1st-level Garonis & Blauri spell, Action, 50 ft line that is 5 ft wide. Opponents make Dexterity saving throw or take 2d8 cold damage, taking half damage upon success. If they fail, they also get pushed back 10 ft. If they collide with another creature or object, they get knocked prone. Adds one additional 1d8, 10 ft of length & 5 ft of width per slot cast above 1st.
- Ice Construct: 2nd-level Daidrin, Garonis & Blauri spell, Bonus Action, range 30 ft. The caster creates an object no larger than a 5x5 cube out of ice anywhere in range that they can see or sense. Once created, they can telekinetically control this construct. If the construct is a weapon, it gains the same properties and damage as the weapon would normally have and can be used for any melee attack, using the caster's choice of their Strength, Dexterity (if finesse or ranged weapon), or spellcasting modifier. The user can telekinetically move the construct up to the spell's casting range as a bonus action. For every spell slot above 2nd that is used to cast this spell, the maximum size increases by 5x5 and the range increases by 20 ft.
- Aberrant Tentacles: 3rd-level Blauri spell, Bonus Action.
- Dark Lightning: 4th-level Daidrin & Blauri spell, Action. Torrents of shadow-wreathed lightning forming a cone of 80 feet long and 15 feet wide blast out from you in a direction you choose. Each creature in the line must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 8d8 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The lightning leaves necrotic scorch marks on organic flesh when the creature fails its Dex save. If they are not healed by magic, medicine or rest within 1 hour, necrosis begins and deals 2d6 necrotic damage per hour as it spreads. If it drops them to 0 HP, they have disadvantage on their death saves until they succeed on at least one.
