The Sand Bar
The Sand Bar is a lively and bustling tavern located at the heart of Gallow's Sway, the infamous pirate cove. Built atop a series of interconnected wooden platforms that are suspended over the water, this ramshackle establishment is a hub of activity for pirates seeking respite from their seafaring adventures.
The exterior of The Sand Bar is weathered and worn, with saltwater stains and patches of seaweed clinging to its wooden walls. A faded signboard hangs crookedly over the entrance, depicting a crude painting of a palm tree and a sandy beach, hinting at the tavern's name. The entrance is guarded by a burly bouncer, who keeps a keen eye on newcomers and ensures that the pirate truce of Gallow's Sway is upheld within the establishment.
Stepping inside, patrons are greeted by the warm glow of lanterns and the savory scent of freshly cooked seafood. The interior of The Sand Bar is a chaotic mix of salvaged ship parts, mismatched furniture, and makeshift decorations crafted from shells, nets, and other maritime trinkets. The walls are adorned with faded maps and tattered flags, telling the tales of past adventures and conquests.
The centerpiece of The Sand Bar is a long, rough-hewn bar made from salvaged driftwood, where a motley crew of bartenders expertly mix potent concoctions in weathered barrels and cracked bottles. The bar is stocked with a wide array of spirits, ranging from aged rum to fiery grog, and many pirates come here to drown their sorrows or celebrate their successes with a hearty toast.
The atmosphere at The Sand Bar is raucous and lively, with pirates from all walks of life exchanging tales of their escapades, bargaining for information or goods, and engaging in friendly (or not-so-friendly) competitions of skill and wit. The air is thick with laughter, music, and the occasional scuffle, as pirates engage in games of dice, arm wrestling matches, or impromptu sea shanty sing-alongs.
The Sand Bar is known for its strict code of hospitality. The tavern's owner, a grizzled pirate known simply as Wedge enforces a sense of camaraderie among the patrons and ensures that disputes are settled with fists rather than blades. It is said that Wedge has eyes and ears everywhere, and any troublemakers who cause disruptions or break the truce of Gallow's Sway are swiftly dealt with and shown the door.
Wedge is a Yergralffe from the North, lost his honor for himself and his family.
