Aburaxii

The aburaxii were said to be created by the Dark Goddess Umbra as a cruel joke. The smoky, shadow-like beings took the rough shape of a bipedal creature with glowing emerald green eyes, but could choose their shapes at will. Many aburaxii took to calling their skin a sleeve or shell.
Many of the species of Genessi have feared the aburaxii for their potential to replicate and invade society as any important figure or loved one. Aburaxii have been staked and killed because of that prejudice, though most are content to live normal lives and find a family.
It is said that the malediction of the aburaxii was caused by a dark promise a tribe of elves had made to Umbra and then broke. In her fury at their betrayal, she cursed them with their shadowy form.
Notable aburaxii include Nax the Unbroken, Varn Tene'ztari, Kaz Riley, and Emperor Juan Torvala II.
