Anthrid
Anthrid (/ˈænθrɪd/) is a proposed language family that would include the Hominid, Dwarvish, and Elvish language families, and possibly also the Arpish and Terrid language families. Speakers of these languages are spread all over the known world, mostly through the Hominid languages. The group takes its name from the fact the speakers of these languages are of anthropoid figures. Most linguists reject the inclusion of the Arpish and Terrid languages. However the narrower group of Hominid, Dwarvish, and Elvish enjoys widespread support among the linguistic community; though some posit that the Hominid languages are actually a branch of the Elvish family.
The Anthrid family was first proposed in the second century of the third era to comprise the languages of all anthropoid beings (except arps, which had not yet been discovered by men). After contact was made between Tira Vellan explorers and arps, some theorised that the Arpish language might also belong to this group. However, since 3E3C many comparative linguists have rejected the inclusion of the Arpish and Terrid in the group, citing invalid cognates and lack of evidence for supposed consonant and vowel shifts.
The larger Anthrid family includes 23 living languages (depending on what is considered a language versus a dialect), while the more accepted, smaller definition includes 19.
