Arxo-Davanian

Proto-arxo-davanian developed around southern Elicia and the Tratian Archipelago in the Ostrafóem Culture during the 2nd millennium BCA. The language would split into Arxian and the Davanian languages some time in the late 2nd millennium or early 1st millennium BCA, with the Arxians migrating west to Tira Vella and the Davanians moving far south into Aresra, though the exact path, one along the western coast entering Davania from the west, or through central Aresra and entering from the east, is debated.   Some loans are clearly mediated through Tratian from Arxian, others are more difficult to tell conclusively. The Kilowian word for chief is "haláha", clearly a loan from a Continental language. It’s possible it came from Tratian "rása", meaning “rich” (also the source of Varaso raso), and itself a loan from earlier Arxian ΡΑϢ rāša, in which case the leading syllable came about from a duplication of the final. It would normally be expected that lá would be reduplicated, but it’s possible that haláha may have eroded from an earlier *las-las-ha, and the syllables changed differently based on their surrounding sounds. It’s also possible it derived from Proto-Arxo-Davanian *Hrā́jā, before the initial *H pharyngeal was lost. If this latter possibility is true, it would be evidence for contact between the Karanesians and the Proto-Arxo-Davanians, giving credence to the coastal migration theory.
