The Caliemhan

The Caliemhan (Elvish: ꗩꖟꖥ KEÞKALE-MHAN [kʰɑlêːm̥ɑn]) was an object or event that precipitated the creation of the Chilovak.   According to Kushan and Shant Karotu tradition, the Prince of Darkness was jealous of the Father of Greatness' ability to create life and so sought to trick the primaeval races into helping him create his own. The Prince went to the elves and took the disguise of an elven sorceror king to warn the elves of a great coming calamity, convincing them to build the Caliemhan as an ark to hold their spirits through the calamity. The device is described as an "infernal engine", and when it was activated, trapped the immortal spirits of many elves within the machine, which the Prince put into a vessel made of earth which became man, the five aspects of the Prince giving rise to the five races of men (akridians, lizardfolk, mustelins, "pakshi", and "min"). The races of men then became a scourge on the elves that had not been consumed by the Caliemhan were forced to flee to sky cities gliding above the earth. Eventually these refugees would one by one escape to heaven with the Father, leaving behind only Smaragdina stewarding his lone necropolis, which is the means by which the Silent Sage discovered Shamt which he used to free his soul from the body that had been created by the Prince to return to the Father.   According to Furanist tradition, Furana made the three primaeval races, and after she had been imprisoned by the Liar Gods, the Liar Gods set about destroying her creation, fashioning new races and stealing Furana's divine spark from the primaeval races in order to animate their own. The new races drove out the old: the "Skochets" were completely annihilated, the dwarves were driven underground, and the elves were scattered. Eventually Furana would grow to love the creations of the Liar Gods, as they still held her divine spark, and were still her children. She then chose to reveal the Donapse to Hair of Tunis to guide the Chilovakian races to her.
