The Valley of the Northern Wind

During the Diamond Age, the Elves were forced out of the Vitalve Plains and into the Vitanorum Mountains. There they found a river valley with plenty of game to hunt and soil to grow the more hardy crops. They created a new capitol Dunstromm and claimed the land as their Valley of the Northern Wind. It was an excellent place for a settlement. The winds brought heavy storms in the tall mountain peaks in the area, preventing the humans from continuing their conquest. Water flowed from the mountains into the valley, so that they always had a steady stream of freshwater.

Geography

The Valley of the Northern Wind is a deep set valley in the Vitanorum Mountains. The cliffs that rise on every side are steep and jagged; only the few passageways through the mountains to other nationals are smooth. There is a waterfall in the northeast that flows into a lake, and the river cuts through the entire valley and continues back into the mountains which lead to the Luminel's caverns.

Fauna & Flora

There are thick forests of pine trees and evergreens in the valley. Bushes of berries are scattered in large numbers around the forest, tended to by the Dahl gatherers. Many elk, deer, rabbits, and other smaller game reside in the forests for the Dahl to hunt. The natural predators are lynx, snow leopards, bears, and wolves. Northern Pike is the most populated fish in the lake and rivers.

Natural Resources

The pine and evergreen wood is sought after by all other nations, and deep in the mountains lie great veins of platinum, silver, and gold.

Sounds like a great place to explore! Are there many nomads or small settlements out here or is the challenge of survival too great?

Outside of the capitol Dunstromm, most of the settlements are fairly small, yes. Typically they reside in areas with some kind of water source nearby, or on the river itself. The mountains are too steep to build safe settlements without the risk of rockslides.
