My father, Gaylen, was a slave of The Crestwoods's. During the revolt, he stayed by their side, and as a reward of his loyalty they put me through the Eagle Knights Academy, where I learned the art of combat. As the price of tuition was payed for by my father's service, I was free to make use of the skills however I saw fit. I don't hold allegiance to any family or entity, but a large majority of my work is for the Crestwood's. Due to this I'm known infamously among the The Emberswifts .
I'd like to be paid by Sofra to participate in the watch, hopefully to negate the cost of basic living expenses so that doesn't have be to be kept track of.
ok couple things to add to flesh out your character's opinion on the Crestwoods and Sofra. Shes about the same age as you so you wouldve basically grown up together. Your father wouldve been a slave back when her grandfather was the head of the family but he died during the revolt from a heart attack. His son and wife took over and were advocates for abolishing slavery so were allowed to keep a sinificant amount of the family's holdings (about half, the rest was taken as compensation for the family's past). Sofra's parents were able to grow their transporation network and gain more wealth. They were the ones that put you through the academy. Later when you were both 12, Her parents died in a shipwreck and she took over the family buisness. You came back from the academy and have been working for her since. you and your father have rooms at the Crestwood estate along with food.

knowing that you have a place at the estate are you trying to move out and get enough pay to afford your own place?
The important part would be making sure I'm in tune with my alignment. Almost everything I do is for the benefit of myself or my father, usually through monetary rewards. If I stayed at the estate, I'd need to make sure that I could still take outside contracts, and I wasn't in servitude of the family like my father is.

I'd say we were friends, most importantly that we trust eachother
another possibility is that my father was some sort of victim that would motivate me to volunteer for the watch
that way it's not just, "I'm just hear to get paid, idgaf about this nonsense tbh

nah im thinking your father is almost like Alfred from batman and just chooses to serve at this point cause thats all hes known and after Sofra's grandfather died hes been treated really well. so if youre also on good terms if you told Sofra about wanting to branch out she would be ok with it and let you know that you and any of your family always have a place to stay at the estate
