General Summary

As the party were about to kick the door down and attack the Gulthias vampire Emilie Hviid, the gang recalled that Cwenraed had lied to them: he had told them that a manifestation of Grandmother Hviid was in the cellar, but it was in fact a live Gulthias vampire. The gang considered the implications of this, but still opted to attack Emilie.
Friedrich picked the lock of the door, and then the combat began. While Elizabet opened the door and entered a duel to the death with Emilie, Friedrich shot fireballs into the room, destroying many of the animated plants under Emilie's command and the valuable alchemical equipment they were hunting for. Ruth and John White fought alongside each other, with Ruth using the light of dawn to destroy the shambling mound. Kuzuha and Gorm held back the animated plants outside the house, using their mastery of fungus and darkness to keep them back.
Elizabet incapacitated Emilie, Fiedrich destroyed the Gulthias sapling and Jon finally killed Emilie with a stake through the heart.
The gang took stock of the room, finding about 2000 GP worth of alchemical equipment destroyed. Elizabet found a Potion of Invulnerability and a Potion of Necrotic Resistance, while Kuzuha discovered that Emilie had been working on a terrifying poison named Veinrot.
After the Gang had gone through the room, Kuzuha spoke with Cwenraed, confronting him about his deception. He explained that he had not trusted the whole Gang with the truth, but that he wanted Emilie Hviid dead. Kuzuha said that she was dissappointed in him for his deception, and Cwenraed promised to be honest towards her in the future.
As the Gang finished up, the sheriff came to the house, having received reports of gunfire and explosions. Ruth and the rest of the gang explained the situation to the sheriff, who ordered her peacekeepers to aprehend and interrogate Lars Løkkehjul for his role in this vampiric infestation. She told she would report her findings to the Gang later on, but the fact that there was a second vampire attack in one week was alarming to her.
Jon clearly had misgivings about attacking Emilie after the threats the Gang had received, and he left the Gang to cremate Emilie's remains.
The Gang split up, with Elizabet going to father Katros to receive stronger painkillers for her "cancer", while the rest of the gang went to bachelor Vesterå with the retrieved equipment. He was dismayed over the destruction of his equipment, but was happy that the gang retrieved it so he could at least send in an insurance claim to Saltisle. The process would likely cost him a couple of months of main profit, but the equipment they had salvaged would at least allow him to get by if he was creative.
The Gang prepared to investigate the next shipment of alchemical equipment by discussing a new potential party name, when peacekeeper Mohammed approached them and summoned them to a town council meeting on the sheriff's invitation. He explained that the peacekeepers had taken Lars Løkkehjul into custody, and that Lars had cooperated and explained that he had been under Emilie's influence, who he called Emilie Vidå. He helped the peacekeepers and pointed them to a secret underground room beneath one of his warehouses, where the peacekeepers found 3 empty coffins and several crates of the spices stolen from lady Thanaa. They asked brother John to aid them, and Jon identified what appeared to be patterns of Gulthias roots growing out from the walls of the underground lair, though they had retracted away, likely retreating together with its vampiric defenders when Emilie was killed. Brother John theorized that these roots did not belong to Emilie's small sapling, but likely an old and powerful Gulthias tree to the east in Herregård Hviid.
The sheriff had thus called a town council to discuss how to defend against the potential vampiric threat. Several of Ravå's important folk were represented:
  • Sheriff Amal Andersen and her husban Holgar, proprietor of the Sleeping Giant Inn
  • Father Kallinikos Katros of the People's Church, alongside sister Elanor, commander of the Aftensol church's chapter of Gold Dragon Priests
  • Sergeant Line Sortsmed of the East Sceyan Trading Company
  • Sister Zekori Kenyatta, published, editor and sole journalist of the Ravå Reporter
  • Brother John Smith of the Gold Dragon Church
  • Master Besut of the Yellow Order
  • Master Isíbel of the Green Order, spokeswoman of the Aontas Feirmeoirí Áitiúla
  • Silver Marshals Ruzzik Tanin and Martin Hard, representing the Silver Metal Bishop of Highwall
Amal began the meeting by explaining the day's events to the councilmembers who had not been briefed, and offered the chance for the "Grandal Gang" and brother John to speak. Kuzuha informed that the party's new name would be "the Loose Cannons", and this was noted by sister Zekori to be spread to the good people. John explained that he believed the town would be at serious risk of attack, and the sheriff said that while there had often been disagreement between the different groups of the town, they would all have to stand together against the vampires.
Amal explained that their biggest problem was that they needed to get more warriors capable of protecting the town, as her Peacekeepers would not be able to protect the town on their own. She asked Sorte Line if her companists could be of assistance, but she said this would be difficult as her many of her soldiers were busy west of the Ravå and it would take her some time to assemble the force in Ravå. The sheriff suggested petitioning either Duke Andreas Ari or the Hero of Irondeep Yasuo Tomonaga of the Whiteshields, but the Loose Cannons argued against it as that could lead to conflict with Free Sceya. Father Katros informed the council that he had been in contact with father Ezekiel Falch, and that he was assembling an independent militia from Hærbyerne. They could arrive in full force within the month, and the Loose Cannons suggested that they send those who could muster first south earlier, so Ravå would be defended.
Master Besut agreed to pay for an expansion of the palisade around Hovedgade and Ravgade, and the Peacekeepers would start patrolling more at night on brother John's recommendation. The Gold Dragon Clerics of the People's Church and militiamen from Aftensol would patrol the edges of the forest and give early warning of an attack, and the Ravå Reporter would inform the town of it's current predicament.
After these discussions, the Loose Cannons opted to go home for some well-deserved rest. They spent two weeks training for the challenges to come, and would rejoin the silver marshalls on their quest in battle against the Company.
