Immus

The Inferno

The god of fire and flame, Immus (Imm-muss) burns white hot in temper and spirit. It is said he was forced to ascend against his will and the inferno that surrounds him is his rage made real. He favours those that live boldly and with passion. He dislikes boring, cold, and calculated folk and prefers to bless those with tempers, confidence and ambition.   Immus is said to manifest as a flaming silhouette, almost too bright to look at. Those that attempt to manifest him without paying him proper respect have found themselves serving as the flaming figure of his manifestation. He manifests for as long as it takes the figure to burn to ash. Those who claim to have seen him say that when he appears, the temperature in the area rises significantly, causing sweating and exhaustion just from being near him.   Immus, along with Brava, is heavily worshipped in the desert country of Zul Garahn. The Nyan'hari that live there see him and Brava as mother and father deities, bringing both life and death to those that dwell in the sandy dunes. As such, Immus is the namesake for the Im'hara desert that spans the centre of Zul Garahn.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Immus is represented by actively burning flames, rather than drawings or symbols. Statues of Immus are built within pyres and are lit on fire regularly. Depictions of the God are typically a figure or silhouette that is burning.

Tenets of Faith

Immus smiles on those with confidence, passion and ambition, no matter what that ambition may be. He dislikes cowards, the careful, and the timid. As such, followers of Immus have a tendency to be brash, loud and bold.   Immus is worshipped most in Zul Garahn, especially by Nyan’hari. Nyan’hari often hold their funerals in Churches of Immus, and will burn the corpse in order to offer their bodies to him.   Priests and Priestesses of Immus are tasked with keeping the eternal flames, symbols of Immus that must not be allowed to go out.

Holidays

Naqia Immuraqat, translated from Zahari, means Night of the Purifying Pyre. This is a festival that is celebrated almost exclusively in Zul Garahn. The festivities are dedicated to Immus and the flame of rebirth that he bestows.   The festivities involve large bonfires being held across the city, with vast feasts made of food that has been roasted on those bonfires. At the festival, firebreathers spit flames into the night sky and embers fly like paper lanterns up into the night. The feasts are often accompanied by dancing and drinking, as well as walking on hot coals for those brave enough.   The festival ends when the fires burn themselves to ash, and it is tradition that the only fire left burning be that of the great Pyre of Immus at the centre of Al Zahar.
