The Divine Pantheon of Gran Lorien

The divine in this realm that are worshipped by the common folk represent an aspect of the world around them. The prevailing legend for divine beings is that they were once mortals. Mortals that were born in this realm that then ascended to fulfil a divine purpose. This concept of a mortal being called to a higher purpose is called being god-woken. The process of ascension comes with great power, but with a cost as well. It is believed that during their ascension from god-woken to Divine, they had to make a sacrifice of their aspect in order to truly respect it.
The commonly accepted belief is that the Divine do not live in this realm, and instead watch down from a faraway plane. They have, however, managed to meddle and influence the realm of Gran Lorien in their own way. By channelling, possession and manifesting, they can guide, manipulate and influence in order to accomplish an agenda of their own. Manifesting themselves on the mortal plane often causes great pain either to themselves or those around them as it is during this period of manifestation that the deity feels their martyrdom most strongly.
