The Aerie

The Drakewardens of the Aerie tend to the flock of wyverns, dragonnels and drakes that they raise. The Aerie is built up in the towering heights of the Ironpeak Mountains, keeping their more unruly charges far from the towns and villages below. The Aerie is made up of the wardens that train the flock, dragon scholars performing research, and the retainers who aid with day to day tasks running smoothly.
Because of their proximity to Thermagrad, the Drakewardens of the Aerie have to regularly fend off Qhreet raiders attempting to drive them from the mountains. The Aerie is technically under the command of Ur-Khalai and Flametender Deitra and will come to the aid of the city if called, however the Aerie is allowed to maintain their own autonomy at all other times. Though technically a military faction, the Aerie is far less strict than the usual military regiment, forgoing formalities and strict training to allow the Drakewardens to tame dragons in their own unique ways and the scholars to study freely.
Those who become Drakewardens create strong bonds with their chosen drake. The two become inseparable during training, learning to fight together as one. A Drakewarden and their trained drake learn to communicate and the drake's magic strengthens as the bond grows.
