Halasatra

Halasatra is a kingdom along the south of Auld Bastila that includes the arid Dragonsands, the Iron City of Ur-Khalai, the jungle bound trade-port of Avrana, and even the crystalline island of Castaregna.
Halasatra's cities are ruled by their own leaders, but each answers to the Flametender of Ur-Khalai, Deitra. Halasatra is one of Gran Lorien's oldest kingdom, its capital, Ur-Khalai, being built by the elder dragon Deimos the Architect. Since it was built, Ur-Khalai's influence spread throughout the desert and took control of the region, creating the kingdom of Halasatra.
Halasatra has long been a haven for Dragonborn and Yuan-ti, its draconic origin stemming from Sindren's Brood rather than the warmongering Brood of Nidrir. Halasatra is a prosperous kingdom, with Deitra's hoard offering near infinite wealth and the drakewardens of the Aerie bolstering her military.



Halasatran Cuisine:
The people of Halasatra prefer spicy food, even in the sweltering desert heat. Meat is a staple to the Halasatran diet, hunted from the jungles and across the Dragonsands. And in the nighttime, when the temperature drops in the desert, a warm cup of Kafe hits the spot.

Domsia Peppers
These spicy peppers are a staple in Halasatran cuisine. "Domsia", meaning "black tail" refers to the red pepper fading to a dark black around its tip. The pepper is used in many Halasatran dishes, everything from being mixed into rice to being ground up and used in marinade for meats.
Khazak Bread
A flaky and slightly sweet flatbread topped with melted butter mixed with draconic garlic and salt harvested from mineral deposits in the Dragonsands. Khazak bread is often served alongside grilled meats and sauteed onions.
Vharesh Kababs
Ground lamb or beef served on skewers and grilled over an open flame. The marinade is made with crushed walnuts, parsley, draconic garlic, domsia peppers and served with freshly squeezed pomegranate or lemon juice. The meal is often completed with a warm serving of freshly made Khazak bread.
Halasatran Kafe
A warm beverage brewed from Halasatran Kafe beans and served mixed with milk and sprinkled with spicy pepper flakes. The caffeine and peppers keeps one both warmed to the bones and wide awake for a long night's work in the Dragonsands.
