Session 18: Investigate the first rip Report

General Summary

Our heroes started the session with the looming black tower rock ahead of them. Spark is waiting for them to catch up and discusses strategy. It seems the rock moves and ripples. The PCs talk to the owner of the vineyard, Meikas, that urges them to get rid of the rock for 40gp each now, plus a bottle of wine, and 20gp after delivering the wine to Greyridge.   Anyone that enters the vicinity of the rock takes damage, and Orion learns that it was conjured, and once some kind of powerful earth elemental. While discussing the rock, a dream eater appears and attacks! They fight it, then it turns into 4 shadows, and they fight them too. Reginald and Hank set at doing radiant damage to the rock and destroy it in an explosion! Unfortunately, Meikas and his dog also die. A quick scout around his house reveals a Potion of Heroism, 350gp, and a chest. With no other choice, they set off to Greyridge with Spark's horse, Nugget, ferrying the crates of Chigné Classic on his cart, and Meikas' body and valuables on Celeste's cart.   On route they rest, and X-219 and James have an altercation. Spark thinks James is hiding from his dad, James thinks Spark is boring.   Arriving at Greyridge, Orion leaves his zombies in the forest and they head in. The town is one huge bazaar, with a warmth that's in contrast to the chill of the mountains. The bazaar is bustling, but the PCs decide to let the sons know of their loss first. A stablehand points them in the right direction and Hank delivers the news. They're distraught. They ask the PCs if 200gp is a fair payment for what their father promised. It is.   Orion opens the chest with one of the sons and it's a gross gargoyle head (The Gargoyle's Remorse). Spark convinces him that it's best returned to the Guardians of Greyacre. The son agrees. Spark wishes Hank and Orion fairwell as he leaves through the tunnel to visit the elves.   Our heroes head over to The Low Flying Dragon Armourers and talk to the owner, Foz McBrow. They recognise that the symbol on James' armour is the Ice Shards, but from decades ago. He tells them that they knew James' dad and once sold armour to the giants in the north. They never heard from him again but they received 10,000gp randomly one day from the sale and bought this workshop. They knew Ebon, and apparently he tried selling half the town out and blackmailed people. He was kicked out and they got the workshop for a measly sum.    Angelo tries sneaking around a bit downstairs but doesn't find anything. Downstairs is Foz's brother, Wine, who comes up stairs shortly after. They both try selling a few items to the PCs, including a shield with a face on it, some armour that makes you a fish, and a really expensive shield. They decline because they have no coin.   After talking, our heroes decide to tell the brothers about their true intent. James is adamant that the sword belongs to Ebon, even if it was left here, and that deeds list everything at a property. They agree to let them think about it for an hour, while they get a drink.   We leave it there late afternoon on the 10th of Hirudo.
