Session 19: Trying to get Ebon's sword Report

General Summary

Our heroes start by doing some shopping at the Greyridge bazaar for an hour while waiting for the brothers to make up their mind about their wager offer. They shop at various stalls:

• Orion speaks to a Kenku at Scrivener’s Arrow and buys 20gp of ink (2 bottles) and 160 parchments for 80gp. The Kenku throws in Friggoll's Parchment Binder for free.
• Hank goes to Mary Jane Greenleaf’s Herbal Emporium to buy some herbs. She doesn't sell weed (James).
• James goes to The Book Swap and speaks to an old Dragonborn lady. He swaps his book on Sess'innek for Spells an More.
• Orion and James goes to The Pouch to speak to Odabin the wizard. James buys a pill for 10gp from two guys and starts getting giddy. Orion agrees to come back another time to trade some spells.

Once done, they head back to see the brothers. There are 3 guards waiting outside and tells them of Kragg's Law. Inside, the brothers have 3 dwarven friends with them, all with weapons. The shop has been turned upside down, but Foz has a purple glowing sword. He will sell it to them for 2,000gp, but only because of his appreciation for James' dad. They will give the sword to the party if the PCs can get James Grom Sr to send them some more work.
They talk for a while, and realise they're not going to be able to get this sword. Everything ends nicely and they go for a drink. They head to The Copper Cup, have a mug of stout and talk with Foz and Wine. There's a bear wrestling a man, and they tell them that he apparently used to be a man himself. His name is Thrinan, named after the old king of Stoneview.
Obviously, James fights the bear. He wins!! And then they have a drink together. The bear can talk. James offers him to adventure with them, but the bear makes much more money fighting here, and made 200gp in 2 weeks. He does however say that he will come to The Abyss with them if they go. That sounds fun. After a bit, James is convinced he can do magic. He gets naked and tries a fireball in the sky, but just throws up down himself. Then does Wish and gets his dad here. It's obvz an old lady and he throws up again. Some guards spot him and he tries Power Word Kill, and throws up again. Joe steps in to take him to bed before he gets arrested.
They settle him into bed at The Old Shrew inn, and go back out to drink more. The night is fun and Hank talks about his sister's 18 children. In the morning, James feels like he can do Locate Creature once. We'll see. Orion heads off early and spends 2 hours trading Invisibility for Locate Object. He returns and our heroes try finding someone to pay them to deliver goods to the south.
Hank stands on the cart and shouts to the people around them, and everyone else helps get attention. They attract the attention of Farragus Goldtrotter, a crossbow bolt maker. He will pay them 1sp for every mile, to deliver a cart of bolts to the Pull & Wind at Cliffbeach. They request another 15gp to cover the dangerous road. He agrees to 12gp. So 31gp in total. He also writes them a receipt. They set off, leaving Greyridge behind them.
Orion does not remember the way to get his zombies. Joe steps in luckily and they get there in time. Phew. Then Hank encourages Celeste to go faster, getting them back on track. As they arrive at the farms they stayed at a few days earlier, 15 gnolls are attacking the farms! The PCs intervene and kick their ass, despite almost burning them down.
We leave it there towards the end of the 11th of Hirudo after the fires have been put out.

Rewards Granted

The PCs were awarded 31gp as a downpayment to deliver crossbow bolts to Cliffbeach.

Missions/Quests Completed

The PCs picked up a new quest to deliver bolts to the Pull & Wind at Cliffbeach.
