Hool Marsh Protectorate

History

235 years ago, this protectorate was enslaved by a cruel tyrant. But the tyrant was greedy, and as he stretched his hand north from the Hool Marsh, he met the human warrior William Redstream in battle, and was slain.   Armies from Nume Eor fought back the scattered armies back to the swamps and reclaimed the plains and forests. Under Redstream's valiant leadership, the eastern Hool Marshes became a thriving county.   William Redstream became the first Count of Èor, which eventually split into the Viscounty of Nume Èor and the Hool Marsh Protectorate. His descendant, the just and compassionate John Brunis, holds that title today.

Military

Nume Èor keeps a small regiment of knights in the capital of Vendare. The hold of Westkeep is the centre of military power, but the forces are occupied in fending off invasion by the armies of the Sea Princes and the Scarlet Brotherhood.   North of the marsh, the bulk of the protectorate's forces are formed from its militia. Even so, Hool's military force is modest, and has fallen from the days when Count Redstream reconquered the land. It primarily depends on help from the better-armed Viscounty of Nume Èor's armies should any dire need arise.
