Cypress Hill
Deep in the low moors of the north, on the edges of the swamplands abutting Lac Janustrem, lies a small settlement built into the treetops of the massive bald cypresses. The houses and communal buildings, all connected by suspended bridges, number less than one score, with fewer than 50 residents in total. The village is largely self-sustaining and very proud, typically refusing to ask for help from either the southern cities or the elves just to the north in Dreadwood. The largest cypress tree in the region sits upon the small hill for which the town is named, but most of the other cypresses that support the tree village sit firmly entrenched in the watery mires.
