Barony of Blerfield
Overview
The Barony of Blerfield is horse country – wide-open plains roamed by herds of Keobreds, warhorses that are world renowned for their speed, stamina, and intelligence. Blerfield is located in the grasslands of central Keoland with its southern and western borders formed by the great curve of the Good Hills. Plenty of small streams, ponds, and lakes are found in this area. Its northern and eastern borders extended out into the heartland of the kingdom, with its northeastern corner being only about 90 miles from Niole Dra. Farming communities replace horse country in this region. Blerfield has very mild winters. Temperatures are pleasant during the day, and drop near freezing at night, but almost never going below freezing. Summers on the other hand, are sweltering hot. The months of Wealsun, Reaping, and Goodmonth are constantly hot and sunny. For this reason, the people of Blerfield rest during the hottest part of the day. Lady Felien IXX Granforth is the Baroness of Blerfield. She is an athletic young woman with a thirst for knowledge. Self-assured and confident, she is equally at ease in her black riding leathers with her long ebony hair pulled back in a simple pony tail, or in an elegant purple satin ball gown with her dark locks swept up in graceful curls and held in place by an amethyst tiara. Lady Felien is an accomplished fighter and sorceress, and she considers herself the best rider in the kingdom. Having grown up as only child, she was encouraged to pursue any and all of for interests. Her father died when she was very young, and her mother, Lady Felien Granforth XVIII, died in a freak riding accident when Felien was only 15. Instead of allowing a regent to take her mother’s place until she reached legal age, she immediately took control, quietly but firmly squashing any objections. To this day she still does not believe her mother’s death was an accident, but without proof she can make no accusations. She hopes that her magical studies will divine the truth one day. The Baroness is one of the most eligible women in the kingdom and has had many suitors over the years. Being fiercely independent has kept her single all this time, she now realizes that she is expected to marry and produce an heir, preferably a daughter, following tradition. But only time will tell whether she actually takes up the task.
