Ticasuk
Ticasuk is Regalis' mother.
Her name means "Possessing the treasure of knowledge." She was a fisher-woman and great warrior of the Tuktu (Caribou) Tribe.
Tulok, Regalis' father, was killed before he was born. He stumbled into a cave while seeking shelter from a storm after a hunt. The blood from dressing his successful hunt activated a hidden summoning portal etched into the floor of the cave and a small group of lesser demons poured out and tore him apart.
Ticasuk his wife fell into despair for days when he did not return as expected and in her grief she cried out for vengeance against whatever on the tundra had taken her beloved away from her.
A fierce and vengeful Deva of Tyr, Seraphina, heard her cries. Seraphina sought out the spirit of Tulok in the afterlife, and asked him why he did not return to his wife. He told her what happened to him in the cavern. Seraphina then appeared before Ticasuk and told her the story of his death. Inspired by the Deva to seek retribution on the demons, Ticasuk began to train with the village warriors. After training for a few years she became famous in the tribe for her fierceness and skill with the spear.
When Ticasuk felt ready, she tracked down the cave where Tulok had been killed with Seraphina's guidance. Ticasuk succeeded in activating the portal, fighting the small group of demons that poured forth. She slew all the demons but in the battle was gravely injured. She collapsed on the cavern floor. Once more she cried out in despair, this time to both the spirit of her dead husband and the Deva. Seraphina appeared, pleased that she was successful in her mission to avenge her husband's death. Using a bit of her celestial essence she called forth Tulok's spirit, which had lingered in the cavern, and reunited them in Ticasuk's final moments. Tulok's spirit hugged his wife closely and placed his hand on her belly with a wistful glance at Seraphina. She granted his unspoken wish, and Ticasuk was wreathed in celestial light. Ticasuk's wounds closed and her belly swelled with celestial essence. Tulok, his spirit now avenged and dream fulfilled, passed serenely into the afterlife. Ticasuk returned to the village to give birth to Regalis. Upon his birth Seraphina returned to Ticasuk and instructed her to name him Regalis. She told Ticasuk that he will be unlike any other child in the village.
When Regalis was four or five, Ticasuk remarried. She fell in love with Inuksuk, a warrior of considerable skill and wisdom. The two of them would go on to become the main leaders of the tribe, always working in tandem. When Regalis was a young man, demons would attack the tribe. In the battle, Inuksuk would die. Regalis blamed himself and left the tribe because of it. Ticasuk was heart-broken, to lose two loves in one day, but she would heal in time. She lived for many years after that, continueing to lead her people.
