Tulok
Regalis' father.
Tulok was a young hunter of renown in the Tuktu (Caribou) Tribe. His name means "Warrior of the Stars." During a storm, he stumbled into a cave with his fresh kill. Since he had to wait out the storm, he began dressing the carcass. The blood from the animal ran into mystical runes hidden under a layer of blown snow, triggering a summoning portal. Demons poured out. Tulok fought valiantly but was ultimately torn apart.
Tulok's young wife Ticasuk was distraught when her husband did not return from his hunt. No storm should hinder Tulok. As the days passed, she became increasingly desperate, and in her grief, she cried out for vengeance against whatever on the tundra had taken her beloved away from her.
A fierce and vengeful Deva of Tyr, Seraphina, heard her cries. Seraphina sought out the spirit of Tulok in the afterlife, and asked him why he did not return to his wife. He told her what happened to him in the cavern. Seraphina then appeared before Ticasuk and told her the story of his death. Inspired by the Deva to seek retribution on the demons, Ticasuk began to train with the village warriors. After training for a few years she became famous in the tribe for her fierceness and skill with the spear.
When she felt ready, Ticasuk with Seraphina's help tracked down the cave where Tulok was killed. Ticasuk succeeded in activating the portal and fought the small group of demons that pour forth. She slew them all, but in the battle, she was gravely injured. She collapsed on the cavern floor. Once more she cried out in despair, this time to both the spirit of her dead husband and the Deva. Seraphina appeared, pleased with her success in her mission to avenge her husband's death. Using a bit of her celestial essence she calls forth Tulok's spirit, which has lingered in the cavern, and reunites them in Ticasuk's final moments. Tulok's spirit hugs his wife closely and he places his hand on her belly with a wistful glance at Seraphina. She grants his unspoken wish, and Ticasuk is wreathed in celestial light. Ticasuk's wounds close and her belly swells with celestial essence. Tulok, his spirit now avenged and dream fulfilled, passes serenely into the afterlife. Ticasuk would return to the village to give birth to Regalis. Upon his birth Seraphina returned to Ticasuk, instructing her that he was to be named Regalis. She told Ticasuk that he would be unlike any other child of the village.
