House Savadan

House Savadan is an old and very powerful clan that controls much of the Eastern Hainish Heartlands and controls lands scattered across Stildane. House Savadan descends from General Savad, the champion of the Third Scouring who united Hain and established a hereditary monarchy centuries ago. While the direct descendants of Savad died off long ago, this cadet branch decided to inherit the name.
House Savadan have a history of keen politicking and land acquisition, and they have been a rising star since the early 1900s. While skilled at intrigue, House Savadan has struggled with the Autumn Court- they often overplay their hand and end up in legal trouble, and the Court deeply resents Savadan's attempts to influence temple politics. While not all of their members have problems with the clergy, the House as a whole struggles to get them to cooperate. House Savadan has been quite aggressive over the last century, though they ae often sly in how they go about that. House Savadan is on the rise.

The Current Elector-Princess is Shavra Savadan, the bold cavalier. Shavra is an idealistic with good intentions, though she is somewhat callous and can be overconfident at times. She is, to some, the ideal Hainish lady: chivalrous, bold, pious, and good-hearted without being weighed down by excessive sentiment. Shavra is good at keeping her vassals in line and her warriors inspired, but she isn't particularly keen on following orders herself - she can border on rebellious in her interpretation of royal or clerical instruction. She is not above intrigue, but her ambition is tempered by a sense of duty to the kingdom. She sees frugality as the mindset of shopkeeps and stingy sinners, and she generously funds charitable efforts and quests. 
The Savadans also controlled the monarchy until recently; the last queen was Frashia Savadan, who reigned from 1965 to 2016 ME.
