Session 13 - The Whispering Skull Report

General Summary

Freeday, 14th Reaping 784, late afternoon
  • The gem inside the whispering skull tries to seduce some of the party members;
  • Galar Granito-Negro starts attacking the gem but it gives off some sort of feedback psychic energy that damages him too, eventually the gem is destroyed;
  • Inside it a smaller gem lies inert, and proves to be totally indestructible;
  • Finnan Wildbridge keeps the little gem in his bag, tucked in in a blanket;
  • Exploring the chamber reveals some items like potions and tools;
  • While the group is taking a short rest, Aphelios meditates and feels the voice of his sister, giving out a clue as to keep exploring the area with the skeletons;
  • They manage to find a secret entry behind one of the skeletons in one of the alcoves of the chamber they explored previously, but it seems to have some use with the glowing emeralds that made up the eyes of the ghouls; The secret door has to be forced for them to gain entry;
  • Behind it they find a short corridor leading to a small room with a great altar, the walls of the room were formed by thousands of humanoid bones and skulls;
  • In this room they find an Holy Symbol to St. Cuthbert and a bloodied armor on top of an eerie looking altar. The altar sported a symbol close to the spiral they had seen before, but made with right angles instead of a continual curve;
  • The altar also had inscriptions in Infernal, which Aphelios translated, telling of an ancient civilisation named Azarumme, an ancient dark empire that fell centuries ago ruled by a dynasty of vampiric warlords and lich-queens and worshipped the Elder Elemental God;
  • Once back up in the church, Galar takes Thibalt aside and explains what happened to Father Baird and urges him to take steps to close the access bellow the well;
  • When exiting the Temple of Wisdom an elderly woman, escorted by some guards asked to talk with the party;
  • She presented herself as Elslor Zumra, member of the Merchant Council and head of the Tower Arcanis in Birk;
  • She made a few questions that the party clearly wanted to evade, when she learned that Camie Flickerjewel and Aphelios were recently joined the Tower Arcanis she demanded them to present themselves within the hour at her office;
  • Camie decided to try out a local and powerful spiritual drink to get her self-confidence up and ready to talk with Elslor while the rest of the party took that time to rest, eat and do some shopping;
  • Aphelios and Camie finally met with Elslor, they revealed as little as possible trying hard no to lie. They eventually got to know that Elslor is interested in their venture below the Temple because she is desperatly looking for magical aid to help her comatose husband, and had knowledge of an ancient civilization with powerful magic that should have lived right where Birk stood;
  • Surreal Sha and Galar shared a meal at the The Rustic Scabbard and had a serious talk about some behaviours and feelings Surreal seemed to have that Galar felt were uncommon for her.
