Governor's Palace
On the planet Haven, rising above the center of Asylum City, stands the most well known and most feared building among the populace. Citizens, poor and rich, young and old, all fear what lies behind the walls of this seemingly floating palace. It is supported from below by several thick columns, all close together, but separated enough so that most must be destroyed to take the Palace down. Long thick cables keep the palace tethered in place, keeping it upright against the fearsome weather that occasionally ravages the city.
The Governor's Palace represents Asylum City through its irony. It looks protective on the outside, as if those inside care greatly for those inside their walls, yet all that is found inside is abusive rot and greed.
Purpose / Function
The Governor's Palace serves multiple purposes, ranging from living quarters for the ruling family of Asylum to a laboratory that is near the bottom of one of the supporting pillars that is designed to make use of the imprisoned population.
Alterations
During the latter years of the rule of King Crevidae, a laboratory was created in one of the supporting pillars. This lab was designed to house experimental subjects that would be used for a secret super soldier project, with said subjects coming from the imprisoned population. However, the need for more subjects lead to an increase of imprisonments of the populace, which lead to more cells being needed.
Several defenses have been added over time, as the Hydro Heads began to attack the palace again and again. New defense range from gravity powered devices to various types of turrets and anti-air guns.
Architecture
The style of architecture that best describes the Governor's Palace would be gothic architecture, given the ornate details on the outside walls, as well as the spires that jut from the top.
Defenses
The walls are made from a thick heat resistant material, that can withstand plasma fire. Turrets and AA guns decorate the spires and roofs at various angles to best protect the palace from flying enemies.
The castle, which sits on its pillars like a gothic marshmallow on a metal stick, has a natural defense against most ground bound enemies, due to its lofty position in the skies about Asylum City.
