Carson Krastmere
Alder Lord Carson Krastmere (a.k.a. Blackheart)
The grim faced lord of Krastmere Castle. Carson was a Noble in liege to The Alder House of Kenmore. But when Furst Kenmore rebelled against the newly crowned King Eoric Fermont. Carson refused to ally with him. And was attacked by his former Liege Lord. His defiance of the Kenmores during the siege of his castle may very well have led to the end of the rebellion. And for his loyalty, the Assembly of Alder Lords raised him to their pedigree. Making him the new Alder Lord of the Aldership of Lorcard.
His newly gained standing with the Crown has unsettled his contemporary Lords. Who look on him and his family and see only a family of Southern Barbarians that were lucky enough to flee from The Ramian Empire and be given land and title by one of the Deremand Kings.
Carson has endured the slings and arrows of scorn and contempt from the Dekmirian Court. Which has contributed to his cold face and grim demeanor. Some say that the Lord Krastmere still practices the barbaric rituals of his ancestors. Or at the very least, his illegitimate son, Roen The Bastard does. Which also gives the Krastmeres a dark reputation for savage violence among the rest of the nobility. A reputation, Carson Krastmere has only been to happy to use to his advantage.

Personal history
Carson Krastmere was born in the Fourth Aeon 1688 A.E. 5th of Urisea. In Fort Krastmere, as had many in the Krastmere family. His father, Badik Krastmere, was not particularly affectionate. As was common among the Krastmeres. In the Fourth Aeon 1698 A.E. his father sent him to the military academy in the City of Dekmire. Where he learned the martial tradition and pride that built the might of the Kingdom of Dekmire. But when he returned in the Fourth Aeon 1702 A.E. He learned the barbaric fighting tactics of his heritage. The tactics that won Krast the Red his glory in the Battle of Reclamation. Which had an effect on Carsons character as a person.
As was common of the Lordship in Dekmire. Carson spent another six years in the Court. Watching the machinations and schemes of Lords lesser and greater as they danced and staggered around each other in the Capital. He learned much about the character of his contemporaries. As well as the potency of the political maneuvers his ancestors made. Carson returned home a slumbering Manticore. Ravenous for the kill. And cunning enough to know how to get that kill. His first true test as Head of the Krastmere Family came when his Liege, the Alder Lord Furst Kenmore, rebelled against the Fermonts ascent to the Throne upon the death of the Royal House of Deremand in the Fourth Aeon 1725 A.E. Furst Kenmore called on his Lords to join him in rebellion. Believing the Fermonts too preoccupied with the war with the Skaari to be able to mount a significant defense. All his Lords replied, only Carson Krastmere, had yet to answer. Deciding that the survival of the family depended on the loyalty to the throne. Carson refused his Liege. Earning the scorn of Furst Kenmore. Carson had managed to send a Courier Raven to the Capital before Fort Krastmere had come under siege. A request for military aid in return for military aid. The Fortress was only under siege for two days before the Fermont Loyalists came through and liberated the Krastmeres. After rallying his own militia. The combined forces marched on the City of Lorcard. And smashed the Kenmores.
Since the Kenmores had been stripped of its status as an Alder House. The Fermonts granted the status to the Krastmeres. And Carson was congratulated by many. Though his own purposes for it all were unknowable.
Carson later reorganized the more exceptional of his militia into a Mercenary Company. Led by his illegitimate son Roen. The Company was called the Screamers. And had become an additional military arm for the House.

Only to return to the husband of the boys mother during the night. The jealous husband was never seen again. But the boy, Roen The Bastard. Was gifted with a mask made of human skin. Carson said it was an heirloom of the family. Not to be shared with anyone.
But the mask was too fresh to be an heirloom...
