Pyrsos Lukhoros Anaktoro
Standing atop the red cliffs of the northern Lukhoran coast, the remnants of Pyrsos Lukhoros Citadel stands defiant to the onslaught of her foes, both past and present. Discovered in 1782, this ancient Lukhoran palatial complex has been a site of great interest to Makadelian Archaeologists, who see this settlement as an unusual exception to the norm of typical Lukhoran sites. Made as a defensive structure positioned on the northern coast of the region, it's only speculated what they could be defending from, with many theories pointing towards Cyclopes from the mountains, raiders from the east, or even the great Sovranese Empire from across the sea.
Demographics
As of Defterios of this year, there are aproximately three dozen Elulatros Cyclopes living within the citadels outer walls, supplanting the previous population of about fifty Makadelian archaeologists. What the archaeologists have gathered about historic populations however is that it looked to be a fairly typical ancient Lukhoran city with similar demographics: a large human population with a smattering of Lamiae, Tauroi, Harpai, Lampades, and Oreads. The town also seemed to be militaristic in purpose, meaning the population were likely made up of warriors and their families from other regions of Lukhora, possibly to halt an invasion from across the sea.
Defences
In the center of the citadel sits a fairly traditional Lukhoran palatial complex, meant to house the majority of the communities food and vital resources in times of peace, and capable of housing the cities population during times of war. The walls are thick and made from local granite, formerly reinforced with non-local wood, likely cedar. Outside the palace are the inner walls, made of rough-hewn stone bricks kept in place with a gypsum mortar, unusual for the region. Finally, the great inner walls are constructed of large, cyclopean-style stones unsecured by mortar, a much more typical defensive structure for ancient Lukhora. there also seems to be evidence of a palisade being made to surround the settlement, but this structure is only speculative based on some iron bindings found around the complex.
