Centaur

Centaur's are a relatively young race, and one of the many slave species of the Old Elven  Kingdom, used as beast  of burden and shock troops like the Orc. Thus it is little surprise to most that they worship many of the same savior gods, and when their Elven overlords fell from grace, during the sundering they took swift and barbarous action to free themselves, in some cases even establishing minor domains of their own.   Though few know of this past, as the Centaur have no written history, as they tell their stories in great songs of mourning, wrath and passion, and even then few who hear them understand them fully. For the Language of the Centaur is intricate and and tied to their incredible hearing, for even their tongue can be spoken in volumes beyond the human ear making it quite impossible for most species to know their full tongue as it is spoken.   For to the Centaur much of their language is tied pitch and volume for, with many words and sounds being the same, but their meaning is interpreted by pitch.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Centaurs like Orcs were made for war, a fact that becomes obvious fairly quickly, with strong yet flexible bones, and with vastly different bone structure than that of horses, to overcome the dangers that most horses face if their legs break, and being able heal from most injuries if given time. The spine of Centaur is however the most advanced and resilient thing about them, being able to withstand great force and bend to quite frighting degrees when the humanoid upper body is forced to withstand the great force their lower bodies give their swing.   Centaur faces are somewhat elongated and bestial their faces are slightly furred along their the edges of their face and especially over their dominant brow ridge.   Amongst the Centaur's there are two dominant genus, though they have intermingled quite a bit since their creation they generally draw from these characteristics.   The Pha'Ur Strong and Large, these centaur are massive and powerfully build with much of the horse's bones being much larger almost fusing together around the rip cage, their bone structure is quite pronounced on their skin, and the continues to grow through their lives, becoming denser and stronger and larger, and their old age it will begin to pierces their skin along arms, legs and spine, until it slowly becomes their death. Their massive frame being somewhat akin to that of monstrous draft horse, though the Pha'Ur are generally not prone to long feats of endurance like their smaller cousins, they instead excel at explosive feats of strenght and speed, though that is not to say they cannot survive prolonged engagements.   The Zha'Myl Lighter and smaller then their larger cousins, the Zha'Myl are capable of great feats of endurance, being able to run for days and having much greater control of their sense of hearing, they can hear their prey from such distance that no prey can hope to escape, for they will hear you long before you see them, and can outrun you and if they cannot they need merely run till your body gives up.

Growth Rate & Stages

Centaur's grow up fairly quickly physically, becoming "adolescents" at the age of 2 at-least physically, but arn't mentally mature until they reach the age of 4 when they are considered fully matured by their own kin.   Centaur's life spans seem to often be something of a dice throw, but is generally around 30 to 50 years, with the Genus Pha'Ur never living longer than 50 at best, often succumbing to their biology much earlier in life, while the Zha'Myl Live have been reported to live up to around 80 years but will generally die around 50 to 60 of old age.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Centaur hearing is quite frankly incredible, capable of hearing sounds that many other species are simply incapable of, with relatively ease. Their nasal cavity is in fact predominately another organ for hearing, only providing them a somewhat limited sense of smell, and with both their nose of ears having clamps that allow the centaur to cancel out certain ranges of noise and to adjust their sensitivity.    They posses the same eyes as that of their progenitor species, giving rather excellent depth perception.
