Fire Grip

An abominable Chimera of a grip, wyvern, and unknown reptiles, made as formidable mounts for wizards and knights alike in the old days, but after the Great catastrophe, many of them escaped into the wild, breeding rabidly, until the population spiraled out of control in the early 1100 century. These creatures were once terrors in all of Kathlam, but were hunted to near extinction during the late 1400 hundreds, with the population slowly returning since then, they are mainly scattered to a few remote places around mount Hadrassa and the Abradeen Ridge, some speculate that most of the population resides further into the badlands, but no expeditions to validate the theory has been made yet.   The creatures possess a rare ability, in that if they spend a large amount of time amongst spell casters, they will develop latent telepathic properties, enable them to communicate with alarming intelligence to whomever they have bonded. This has seen some scholars speculate that they were indeed the favored mounts of the ancient spell lords, but also the darker theory that humans may have been used in the creation of this chimera.   The creatures as they grow older become more reliant on their acidic breath, as the acid over their life begins to wear down their beak and jaws and teeth, as such a telltale sign of dealing with older Fire grips is the remains of their food has been severely melted.
