Musara Trollkin

Divided origins: We stand unaware of the exact origin of the troll-kin, as they appear to have been among settlers before the Republic guilds established a thorough presence in the region. The locals are not of much help either, they are simple folk of low learning and quite possibly inbred, but have been welcoming due to our aid and have agreed to work for us in many of the fields, but I digress. The Troll-kin appear to according to local legend to be the offspring of kidnapped villagers by the trolls of the island, though we have yet to see any evidence of any actual troll activity close to the villagers, they appear to dwell far deeper inland and of little intelligence nor necessary “drive” to “kidnap” villagers. But it hardly matters, what matters is that this is forwarded to Collegio or perhabs in the Doge, for the opportunity in these Troll-kin is great as they appear immune or simply to hardy to die due to working in these deadly marhses, as such I say we should promote either their willing cooperation and separate them from the locals who redicule them, or simply great labor camps, which ever the Guild Collegio decides. -Guild Pregadi Anthony Farasi.
We are the Musara, Blessed of Old Bas’hu Eldest of the trolls and Great Manfa the ever sleeping spirit. We are the Musara, Guardians of the spirit and soul, wardens of the isle and protectors of its spirits. We are the Musara, Stewards of Marazma and inheritors of its fertile soil, we are its True sons. We are the Musara, Proud sons and daughters of Marazma its dwellers first and last. We are the Musara, Humble must we be, Proud in Soul and Somber in our Strength. We are the Musara, Strong our hide, eternal our spirit, resting forever with Manfa. We are the Musara, Sharp our Fangs, Strong in mind like Mother Bas’hu, stronger in harmony.
— Except from Tribal song lead by Musara Shaman. As recorded by Ruprecht waldhertz - on the wonders of Dozango; Marazma.

Culture and cultural heritage

The Musara Hold great respect for spirits and their ancestors as such much of their life is dedicated towards honouring them, though some do grow disillusion with these ideals for their kin have suffered greatly in these years by the incursion of the northern human settlements and some have even left behind their ancestral land marking a first among them that the tribal Musara can be seen wandering land. Even though the Musara are largly devided among the three great tribes, it considered sacrilege of the highest order for a Musara to kill another Musara, a sin that will see once soul ousted from peaceful rest in the islands soil. But one thing which the Musara will not hesitate to kill for, is the protection of sacred sites, nothing causes greater fury in their veins than the desecration of their holy sites, for they are the link between themselves and their passed families, a bond that test deeply upon them, for to the Musara death is not the end, and even ordinary Musara can speak to their diseased relatives so long as they go to their sacred burial sites. Community is for this reason not very important to the Musara as they never truly feel alone, always surrounded by their ancestors, and old companions. The musara therefor often live alone or in smaller groups they call companion groups(close friends, family units, lovers so on.) Though they do value cooperation between each other, and often often share food with other companion groups which need food or other wares. They only meet as a tribe when called upon by the chieftain. As such Musara that leave their home island often begin to feel a sence of lonesomeness they have experied when they can no longer speak with their ancestors. This spurs many wanderes to seek out greater companion groups or any place to belong. The Musara live simple and spiritual lives, as hunter gatheres upon the Island of Marazma, deeply connected to islands spirits and holy places, they seek to let its spirits rest and for the island to find peace. As such their shamans are there de facto leaders even if each tribe is lead by a chieftain he or she holds no authority of the shamans as they represent their ancestors and even serve as Manfa’s mouthpiece. The chieftan as such serves the function as gatherer as he is the only one who can gather the tribesfolk.

Common Etiquette rules

Upon meeting each other it is consider polite to place ones hand at their heart, to show good intention. If such a deed is not done, it is considered rude if not hostile. If one meets another companion group, which has not succeeded it their hunts and gathering, it consider polite and ordinary to share excess.

Common Dress code

The Musara have no strict dress codes, but do usually cover themselves in some form of hide or cured fungi. It is a way to show off, to let others know that you are not only surviving, but thriving, as such cloths of some sort are usually prettied up for gathering events.

Art & Architecture

They have little to speak of in both regards, as they are hunter gatherings with few to no settlements.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

The Musara Mark their origins and allegiances with tattoos made from soot of burned Ghostwell moshrooms, these tattoos hold great spiritual importance to their people, and are used to mark great events and personal struggles, a each Musara’s body tell a great and personal story each. As such these tatooes are made by the tribes spiritual leaders only. And the bravest among their kin brand their flesh with fire or acid to show mastery over themselves and fear, since only acid and fire leave lasting scares upon Troll-kin flesh. Though the Musara do not hold a great deal of warrior costums, they do place great value in warrior prowess and will often spar to hone such skills with one another, this value is derived from sheer nessesity as survival does not come easily even to the chosen people of Marazma, and skill at arms, tracking and hunting are a nessecity for all to hone.

Funerary and Memorial customs

Musara always bury their dead among the Islands sacred sites. By all accounts these places are great and extensive mass graves, but fungi and other sedimentary insects make quick work of them. These sites become places of great spiritual value, here the musara go to converse and talk with their past lineages and fallen friends, such places are marked with skulls of prey and old possesions, Musara often place tokens of value at such sites, usually things they know the fallen appreciates.

Common Taboos

Major organizations

The musara have no greater organization, but each hail from one of the three great tribes, The Cruel blood, The Stonehide and the Night Whisper. These Tribes each have a chieftain, a hereditary position, and the only one who has the authority to call together the tribe from the gathering stones. But it is the Shamans who are able to sway the people and cheiftans across the island for they are the voice of Manfa.
