Green Lightning
Green Lightning is an SSS-class superheroine, a member of the Defenders active roster, and generally considered the fastest human being on the planet. Her top measured speed was 0.002c, or 0.2% of the speed of light. This is roughly 2600x the speed of sound, and 10x the speed of any non-super vehicle. This unbelievable speed is a large part of why she commands a SSS-class and a designation as one of the world's most dangerous superhumans.
For the early years of her career, Green Lightning was the preeminent hero of Serine City. In 2010 she was appointed to the active roster of the Defenders and began to take on a greater role outside of the city, leaving it for longer and longer periods of time. As of 2012 she is mainly engaged elsewhere and is no longer expected to handle Serine City crime except in the most extreme cases, as is the active Defenders' role in all cities. The absence of their SSS-class hero has left many in Serine City worried about their security and the police are doing their best to reassure the populace and maintain law and order on their own. Green Lightning has continued to express a fondness for the city, and does still pop up on occasion.
Although she's capable of crossing from the US' east coast to its west coast in a matter of seconds, in practice Green Lightning rarely goes that fast for that long due to the damage that she would cause to roads and environments during her passage.
Although she does not wear a full mask, her identity is preserved because she is able to vibrate her face at such a speed that her individual features are impossible to distinguish. Not even the best cameras have been able to capture a clear enough picture of the superheroine to confirm anything but the most general of facial characteristics.
